Hi,
I always have my antivirus updated. Sometimes when my USB gets infected from some public computer, I just format it. If some important system files gets corrupted or missing, I have to reinstall the entire operating system. Now, this is tedious. I usually make a lot of customization in my operating system. Each time I reinstall it, I have to do everything over again. So I prefer to be cautious about those malwares.
God bless you

I have only had this happen to me a couple of times and both times when it has happened, I will take the hard drive out of my computer and set it up as an external with my husband's computer. I will then take everything that I need off of the main hard drive. Then, we will put it back into my computer and reformat/reinstall my operating system and start fresh. This is time consuming and I will admit that, but it takes less time in the long run than trying to locate the individual files that are corrupted.

It is a long time since I had any real issue with a virus, but I keep a full backup of data and a system backup as a matter of good practice. If I had a major issue that was difficult to deal with I could easily run the image backup onto my computer and overwrite everything.

When a pc is infected with a virus and the system where damage what I usually do is to clean the system first to check again if there is no virus anymore. And then using a bootable cd I will restore the registry to a previous setup usually it's the registry are always targeted by the viruses. And i will do check disk (chkdsk) command it's a windows utilities to fixed and restore damage system files. If all fails to revived the operating system I will do re-installation of it.But the first two option will just work fine for me always.

First, Run System Restore, and choose restore point, maybe from the last month.
Second, If System Restore cannot help or the problem still shows up, Re-install Operating System+Re-format harddisk. Before you do that, please move all your important files and programs to media backup such as DVD, BluRay or external harddisk.
Hope this will help you.
