What was your ultimate abstinence this holy week 2010?

This holy week I abstain myself from surfing the internet. It was really a great sacrfice since everyday I always surf the net and visit a lot of sites, especially mylot, facebook and youtube. But, for the sake of Jesus who died on the cross for our sins, it was worth it. I am really proud that I have endured 4 days of no internet. I am a survivor! LOL. How about you fellow Filipinos and brothers and sisters of Christ?

I abstain myself not going out on any trip that involves fun, like going to the mall or resort even if it was a long vacation.
Instead, i just attended holy wenesday's and good friday's procession and a while ago the traditional "salubungan". I just knew that my sacrifice was not enough it was very very little compared to what Christ have done, that's why i thanked Him enough for all the sacrifices He did in order to save us from our sins.

That's good to hear jinjer. I also do that during holy week. It became a tradition in our family that we should not have fun while our Lord Jesus was suffering. I just watched movies about Christ on television. I even got a good prayer just this holy week. Let me share this with you.
Lord Jesus, I need you.
Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins.
I open my life to you.
Take control of my life.
And make me the person you want me to be.Amen
It's a simple prayer yet beautiful. I've been praying it since then.
God bless you!

i cannot specifically say what i abstain for so as to preserved its own sanctity (just my bizarre thought of doing and not expressing here as mere ploy, or judging others own way of sacrificing for His glory, but to give it a general meaning i may say i did not do the most pleasurable thing i always do at regular days, and i survived it as you did..hehe

Sad to say, I didn't have one. I didn't want to commit myself to something for selfish reasons and something sacred which I am not truly prepared for. I know about abstinence and it's meaning during lent season that is why I feel that I should have prepared for it before, reflected on my sins and then abstain and repent for the duration of the season, and because I failed to reflect, I didn't want to commit.

Complete abstinence of going to the shopping mall and I didn't eat meat also for the duration of the Holy Week, I only eat meat during Easter Sunday. I just stay in my room for the whole days of Maundry Thursday, Good Friday and Black Saturday, going out only to attend Church services at the Cathedral.

At least your abstinence lasted as short as two days.Yeah, we did not eat meat as well. We only have canned sardines and noodles for our meals. It became so redundant that I felt like puking. I had full of preservatives that week.LOL

I did not abstain on anything.Jesus Christ has done the ultimate sacrifice for me. What He has done on the cross is enough. He came into this world so that we may live an abundant life and that means we can enjoy facebook and other stuff even though
it is Holy Week. :-)
What I did though is I spent my time, rehearsing for our church's easter musical play and together with my colleagues in theater, we devoted ourselves in prayer.
Many watched the play, many people from the audience renewed their relationship to God. :-)
God bless you my fellow mylotters.
