well i use my laptop for more than 5 hrs and i see some negative effect, the batteries life become shorter, when i first bought it the battery last for 2 1/2 hrs but after 6 months of always 5 hrs use the battery last only now for 2 hrs. we must lest our laptop rest for at least 2-3 hrs to prolong battery life

I think it is okay since I am also using my laptop that long. Just make sure you have a cooling pad so you're laptop will not over heat its small chips. Do check the battery regularly because if a laptop is not used properly, the first thing that will be affected is its battery life.

yes its not safe coz the laptop might be over heat like other electronic device also. though mine, i used it for more than 10 hours a day and i only closed it if i sleep i just have a cooling pad and its bigger to make my laptop cool thats why even if i used it for more than 10 hours its still not hot. though its not really advisable.

I would say it's perfectly all right to keep your laptop on for more than 10 hours. Maybe some of us are aware of this. Laptop manufacturers usually do a 36 hours or longer, burn-in test for all laptops before they ship them out for sale. This test is to test the reliability of the laptops so that quality can be guaranteed to buyers. Take note that the burn-in test stresses all the components in the laptop. For our normal usage, we don't normally stress the laptop components. To sum up, it is perfectly all right for the laptop to be on for long hours. So, don't worry about it.

i disengage the battery from the laptop itself to avoid over recharging it.
I usually charge for an hour to an hour and a half before i leave though and keeping it on for more than 10 hours should be fine if you have a power source nearby.

That is OK if you want to use your laptop more than 10 hours. Right now, my laptop is already working for about 48 hours without getting shutdown. All you have to do is preparing good cooling such as:
1. Keep your laptop in room temperature (25 degree Celcius). You can put it in a room with Air Conditioner working.
2. Buy laptop cooler. Usually it has 2 - 4 small fan and powered by USB cord plugged in your laptop
3. Unplugged the battery and use power only from electricity power cord. This will keep your laptop battery lifetime still in normal condition.
Hope this will be helpful

I don't think you should have any problem if you run your laptop for 10 hrs except that the battery life of the laptop will get shortened.Whenever you use your laptop that long I will ask you to get connected to a power source and don't rely too much on your laptop battery if possible.Though the batteries that you have will be required to be changed even if you don't use the laptop still why reduce it's life when and if you have an alternative which is a current source nearby. You also must be having all the cooling apparatus like fans and use it.You can also downlowd a few free softwares from cpuid website that will show you whether your machine is performing well or are there any indication of misbehaving.Hope that this post wil help you to get rid of your tension.

I do think its pretty safe to use laptop that long, but hey you should at least give it a break from time to time too. I mean if you continue to use your laptop this long then its pretty much possible that it wont be long until your laptop wil experience lots of problems along the way. Usage of anything in moderation is always taken into consideration . Maybe it laptop or even desktop .Just like us machines have their limit break too ;) Happy mylotting my friend

I used to keep my laptop on constantly, even overnight. The only bad thing that came about it was that my battery only lasts like a good solid 30 minutes to an hour now as opposed to a few hours. I do regret it as now I can't really use my laptop as a portable device unless I have a power source nearby.
Otherwise, no real damage will come about your computer from leaving it on.
