How many people think Internet Surfing has become an Addiction in daily life.
Most of the times I skip meals just not to loose control over my mouse or keyboard. My mother screams at me to have my lunch or dinner?I spend the whole time surfing when I home.Is there any hazard being so addicted to net?

You are correct. I am in office and out of 8 hours I am with internet atlest 85% of time. After reaching at home about 8-8.30 again I used to sepnd another 3 to 4 hours after 10 pm. Yesterday I slept near 4 am. It has a power to make addict to people. Need to control and minimise usage and be more specific and precise. like this the power of addiction can be minimised.
Regards,
Thank-s

I was in that situation before. I stayed up late at night and then insomnia stroke me. I couldn't fall asleep easily and I ended up sleeping at 4 AM. Thanks to the internet. But I did that because I was lonely. I have no friends and I live in a very small city. My family is in another town. Now I'm done being lonely, and I'm done being an internet addict.

haha, we have the same situation too.. when i'm at the computer i can't even feel hunger, and it makes my mom really angry... internet surfing can be really addicting sometimes- so we better watch out..and being addicted to it is unhealthy [it has radiation and makes people skip meals], you should time your internet surfing, like only 5-7 hours a day or something..

Hi anjyell! I was reading your post on this addiction to the internet, and yea lol I can honestly say that it can become like a need to be on here browsing or working on it. For me its something that I enjoy because I do web pages but sometimes I plan on only doing a lil bit of searches and ends up taking alot of my time because I loose track of time. I think you need to put your priorities first. I say that because for me its either doing a web project if I have one or searching for possible works, but thats my opinion. Are u in school? because if you are then surfing the web can be a great tool for it so again have control of how much u spend surfing because you dont want to waste time if your not learning anything from just surfing.
Anyways hope you reply back with a post. Take care

Hi anjyell,
First thing first. What do you think addiction means? This coinage has always carried a negative connotation.
If this be the case you are using internet in the negative way. Those who are in habit of doing regular physical exercise or playing certain sports too would be an addiction.
I do not think your surfing the net more than normal is an addiction. I am sure after some time you would get overdone and the volume you are now attached to this would cease to normal level.
After all how long would you go on surfing? There is a limit of everything and at one point or the other you would find yourself grooved and you would feel that it was not an addiction but temporary fascination.
Jai ho...

It is considered an addiction because there are people who are unable to limit their use of internet...and I am one of them. But I open myself to other things so that my addiction would not fully return. What I'm doing now is just a partial of my addiction.
