When I was hired to teach in college, one of the interviewers told me that its a big no no for a teacher and a student to have a relationship. As a teacher, I cant imagine myself having a relationship with a student. When I was teaching in that university, my students had my number cause I wanted to communicate with them when I needed to do something or if there are some emergencies. But it didnt deserve the purpose cause my students wanted to have me as a text mate and they wanted to just say hi and all those stuff. I didnt change my number and I dealt with it professionally and pretended that I didnt receive any of their messages.

In a way i seem it unprofessional because i think of an 18 year hooking up with a 40 yr old lecturer but its not always the case. I think it is frowned upon because you a lecturer could easily up the grades on the students coursework just because they are dating them. However i had two lecturers at uni...who met when one was the student of the other and they are now married and have two children and work in the same department so the uni obv didn't have a problem with it

i think it's just a banality. iam also a univ student, some of my lecturer also get together with us to talking about or just for having some coffee. maybe that lecture feel bore about her/his job so look for the other ways and hooking Up with some student
