With easier access to computer and the Internet, more and more college students turn to online courses and materials in their daily studies. some even claim that online learning will replace classroom teaching. How far do you agree with them?

Online or what we call DISTANCE LEARNING is very practical because you don't need to go to the university to study. You just need internet access and e-mail address, voila! You can study. With the proper choice of subject, you can make use of distance learning well. If you've taken subjects that you can do all by yourself then distance learning will be good for you, example of these subjects are theory-based subjects and history. But, for practical lessons you need a real classroom set up. :)

Actually, in my work, we use advance online learning facilities. We have virtual classroom wherein several students can interact and show off their skills. It's fun and convenient way to learn! :)

Hi Shylambert, how is it going these days?
I can't agree with you more! Now I am learning online every week in my company, that's terrific. I learned and got improvement, that is the key point. And I don't need to spend time, a lot of time by getting bus to real classroom.
To be frank, some stuff can't be do without be in a real classroom. But there, we can't use our online resources as much as we can, then we can do a little show off in a real classroom when we get strong enough.

Hi there,
Though a more panoramic view at this new style of education will produce incredibly astonishing effect on those who are not ready for a new revolution in learning. IN fact, the development of internet technologies and web-based education has made it convincing that one day online learning may replace the tradional classroom teaching.

i would also like to disagree with that. there will never come a time that classroom studies will be replaced by online schools. in the first place, one should go to classroom to learn the alphabet and numbers, etc. etc. and the computers before they will get to learn about internet and online school.

I did my AA degree from online education. I went to the college in town and asked if all my classes i could take online. There response was of course you can if that is what you would like to do.
I found that online classes were easier as i could do it at my own time and when i wanted. The school i choose to go to was different. Every month you had a different class and you were stuck doing the same thing for a semester or anything like that. It was great beause you weren't so bored in one class for 3 to 4 months at a time and you got to do a different class every month. For your AA degree you had 18 classes to do. If you pass each class on time you only had 18 months to get a degree and if you fail a class you will retake the class after all your other classes are done.
It was a great thing for me as i worked full time while going to school. The degree might not come in handy but sure can help me in the future with getting a better job.

Hi lologirl,
It's awesome that you got your degree from online education. As you said, it would help you get a better job.
I havn't have my degree from online education, but I do learn Business English from my company's free online courses which do me a lot of convenience and improvement. Thanks to the online courses, I can balance my time without spending much time on going to the real class which takes a lot of time waiting for a bus in my city because of the bad traffic jam.
Whether online learning will replace the classroom or not, it truly has a lot of advantages for us to have a try.

I personally think that online learning is much better than classroom learning. Especially considering that now that life in general is more hectic than ever before, it will allow people with busy lives to get an education and work it around their schedule. While there is a set time with actual classes, you could log into class at three in the morning if you are so inclined. And trust me, as someone who is going to school online, I have been so inclined to do so. Better than laying in bed and staring at the ceiling.
However, it will not replace classroom teaching, at least not completely. I think it will grow in popularity but not completely replace it. It is just like physical libraries that are still around, despite pretty much everything being found on the Internet. There are just some things that will never go completely away. It might become not as common granted, but it will not completely go away.

Hi there, yikes, you're the first one who agreed with online education but not completely!
Actuall what I mentioned in the discussion is the most of our classroom teaching not all the learning stuff. Surely there are stuff which can't be replaced by online doing such as seeing a doctor and etc. But we should take online learning into consideration seriously because of the internet technologies we have today, online learning will become more comfortable and suitable for everyone and every kind of subject. What do you think of it. Thank you for your response!

Online learning can never replace classroom learning, at least not in the near future. In order to really learn well, classroom environment is still very much preferred, with your teacher and classmates right there with you. Online learning requires a lot of discipline, and also, certain subjects can never be learned just by being online.

I wouldn't approve online courses. Sure you can listen to a robot saying how to spell a word, but we aren't robots are we. Online exercices don't really mention the mistakes we can make over and over. A teacher can say "there is only one mistake, and it's ...that" internet says it is incorrect. Online exercices may help to type faster though, which would lead to further stance in a job or so you would like to do. But robots can't replace the real information behind it.

Hi there, i got what you mean and it is exactly right that robots can't replace the real information behind it.
However, what we should take into consideration is that the internet technologies are fast developed and there are always a online teaching via video camera so that we and the teachers can be face to face which sounds no difference with classroom teaching. So, what do you think of it? And thank you for your response!

I believe that it won't certainly "replace" the classroom teaching but just an alternative say for example to others who can't regularly attend and travel. It would also be an advantage for some handicaps so that they wouldn't fear of what other people would say about their appearance and capabilities. The interactions between the instructor and the students are very much different in a virtual world. I believe that each of them (the online learning and the typical classroom teaching) has its own advantage and disadvantages.
