Goli Soda or cool drinks

hi mylot friends,
In my childhood days ,while going to school or college we use to drink "Golisoda" there is glass ball in the nec to protect the soda water should not come out side,some people will open the soda with a soda opener and some will with their thumb finger,when the pressing the glass ball to the lower side,the soda will give a specific sould as "Twish",now goli sodas are appearing rarely the cool drinks are dominated the golisodas,every road side cafe is selling branded cool drinks,only a very few road side bunks will sell goli soda and some hand trowing cart with full of sodas will be available in the hot summer on the roads near to market place

Interesting. I have never heard of that brand. It doesn't sound like it's a product of the U.S. Where are you from?

I can relate to what you are saying my friend. There are many brands that were alive and well when I was younger, but, are no longer made and I miss them.

,Goli soda is not brand one,it is local one ,I am from India,not now in previous days,it is available on roadside bunks,shops and etc etc,Goli soda is nothing but Carbonated water,you will not find this in US,have a nice day

Hi yugasini, I too remember goli soda .I used to love it , they came in bright colours and it used to be our favorite drink during summer months.here in Mangalore there are some local soda makers who still make these.Of course in a very small number ,mainly for customers who have been taking it for years...I used to love the lemon ginger flavor which was just great tasting
...makes me feel so nostalgic

thanks for the response,so golisoda is available at your place also,i know ginger soda also,it is very very stong to drink it,but it will remove excess food pain to stomach and leman soda also available and masala soda also available,but the golisoda shops are decreasing to the latest of cool drinks,have a nice day

Those were the days when we would relish the taste of a GOLI soda available on the pavement shop. Now it is the era of aerated and bottled drinks. Thanks for turning a leaf on to the glorious past.

thanks for the response,you re quite right that in olden days we are getting golisoda on the pavements or pavements shops that is koisks or bunks,but the aerated bottles are dominating the market and they are over powered about the sodas,in future we may not see soda in real life,have a nice day

hi,ofcourse who are not aware of the soda .whn i was small it was very tough to drink it ,glass ball never let me drink the soda .i learnt that we had to turn the bottle to prevent the glass ball comming in the was of the soda .now days dont like to take any drink from out side.the best thing i do is just drink plain normal water that is equillent to the room temperature.

thanks for the response,thanks that you are from India,but you have not mentioned about your place,i think you are from Tamilnadu,that is correct in i have also remembered that glass ball is an obstacle to flow the drink to the down side,but after that i know to turn the bottle,i am so like drink ordinary water ,which ever is available at room temperature,but some times i drink cool drink,that is while i am on tour,have a nice day

Carbonated drinks are delicious. however, the effect is harmful to the body. So I choose the cold water. Especially in cold water taken directly from the mountains who had trusted their net.

thanks for the response,that is correct corbonated water created gas in our stomach,i am drinking more cool drinks before 5 years,but i am not prefer to drink cool drinks with carbonated water,i like fruit juices,lassi and regular available water for drinking,have a nice day

Hi Yugasini!
I think, in 1990s it was quite common drink. We were kids and used to drink the soda that you have mentioned. Even today if somewhere I see those it reminds me of childhood days.
Of course, today also we can find those soda drinks but not so readily as Coca Cola etc! Still there are some places where one can find those drinks. In Bangalore, I have seen at a few places.

i love Goli Soda, it got its name because a marble is used as a cork, well goli for tamil is marble, anyway i really miss the refreshing drink, and it is really hard to find nowdays, i am also looking to collect some empty goli soda bottles, they may make a good price someday. Well thanks for the post it reminds me of young days.

thanks for the response,so you are from Tamilnadu,if you will be in Chennai,you will find some pieces of Goli soda near Elephant gate Area i think,once i have seen them there,the old things are disappearing in the market,new things are dominating the market,have a nice day

In my city we still find goli soda sellers, there are plain, sweetened as well as milk varieties, i like soda, to which they add black salt and jeera poweder, try this your self my friend
