Why do guys love their girls' hair to be worn long???

I would not want to make a genrealization. So this discussion is open for comments like this one is not true and not all guys like their girls' hair to be long. I had two boyfriends before who do not want me to have my hair worn short. Maybe it was just a coincidence. However, just yesterday my husband and I had an argument just because I want to have my hair cut short.
I've had a long hair for more than two years now and I want it to be cut short just for a change. When I told him I'm going to the saloon tomorrow for hair cut he freaked out. He said that he does not want me to have a short hair. He loves to brush my hair with his hands and maybe that's the reason. So I told him okay I'll give in this time but next month I'll have it cut short. He remained silent while we were eating. After almost an hour he began talking and teasing me and I never mentioned again my plan to have my hair cut short. I don't want to ruin his mood.

Hi Ladyslipper! Indeed there are a lot of guys who prefer women to have long hair but then I know someone who likes girls with short hair. I believe I am so blessed that my husband does not insist on a certain hairstyle to satisfy his whim. He says that I can style my hair whatever way I want. 
But then he tells me too that women with long hair tend to attract the attention of men more than those with short hair.
Some men also use the Bible to justify their preference for women with long hair by quoting 1 Corinthians 11: 15 that "isn't long hair a woman's pride and joy? For it has been given to her as a covering." But then the true context of this passage is a women's submission to the authority of men in church.
For me the bottomline is for women to style their hair not for vanity's sake but in a tasteful and attractive way that befits women. Cheers!

Wow! That's something new. I have not thought about it especially that passage you quoted. I think men who are traditional likes women with short hair while those who have more liberal minds nd non- traditional is fine or even attracted with girls who have short hair. Well, just a hunch. However, this has no basis.

My boyfriend also want a long straight hair, it adds to the beauty of a women. Only few men like short hair, so most guys really like long hair.

Good day!
I believe it really depends on how the person defines beauty and what the person prefers. There are a lot of pretty and gorgeous women with different physical appearance. I think that women can look sexy, sophisticated and beutiful no matter how long or short their hair is.
However, most of the time feminine women are commonly associated with long hair. Most of the time princesses and queens in fairy tales have long hair.
As I have noticed women with short hair are commonly associated to being sporty and athletic. I believe this has something to do with having an active lifestyle. It is more comfortable to have a short hair rather than a long one.

Hi! For me, I also prefer my girl to wear a long hair. Girls look more feminine and more attractive having it. And it is a general thinking that girls should be wearing long hair and short hair are more on guys. And I also heard that it is also written in the bible that women should keep their hair long, for covering. But for me, it depends on how it fitted her, as long as she will stay pretty with her hair, whether it's long or short, it will be fine with me. Have a nice day! Happy myLotting!

Thanks for the response. Happy mylotting too! It seems that you and my husband have the same preference when it comes to the length of a girl's hair. However, it's also good to hear that you're open to an idea or possibility of your girl having a short hair. Hope my husband would do the same.

I liked women with long hairs. I don't know, but i seem to like those with long hair than those with short hairs. When i was in highschool, i tend to get a crush with a woman with long hair regardless of her looks 
. But it seems that the longer your hair is the harder it is to maintain, that's why i can't blame those who prefer their hair short. But personally, women with long hair tend to be more feminine than those who have short hair.

You are right that it's more comfortable to have a short hair. It's really hard to maintain a long hair. Maybe you're like my husband. You have the same taste when it comes to your girl. She prefers feminine women too. I always ask him why he does not want me to have a short hair. His answer is always the same. He said that I look better with my hair long and that I will look like a boy if my hair is short.
I used to have a very short hair. I just starter growing my hair long after College graduation. I already have a long hair when I met him so he never really saw me with short hair except in my pictures. Well, my friends tell me that I look better with short hair as it looks more sophisticated and sexy. It's a contradiction to what my husband is telling me.

i prefer ladies with long hair but i would never prevent my wife to cut her hair short if she wants to. The thing is she don't because she got a round face. A short hair wouldn't look good on her or that's what she thought which suits me just fine . I think i would have to agree that having a short hair would exude sophistication or is it aggressiveness? which normally doesn't sit right with men.

I personally can't stand short hair my wife and I argue all the time about it lol. When I met my wife she had really short hair I still found her attractive but no where near as much as I do with long hair. Guess its kind of hard to explain but longer hair on women makes them more attractive I guess in a sense.

I guess you really love your wife because even if you are not really into girls with short hair you end up falling in love with her. It also shows that long or short hair does not matter as long as you love the person. :) Happy mylotting!

maybe because some men feel that their gf is really a girl with their long hair and it makes the girl more pretty specially if the hair is soft and smooth to touch. most guys love to play with the girls hair by running their fingers through the hair it looks romantic and sweet. my bf also want me to have long hair as he said i look more feminine with it.

My husband loves to do the same thing with my hair. I guess that's one of the reasons he wants my hair long. Aside from that he is not into sporty type of girl. He is more attracted to feminine types.

My boyfriend also likes my hair to be long... he insisted on it for the first year or so since we been together.. Then I asked him point blank why the long hair? Not sure if how blunt I should be.. but needless to say he finds it very attractive and something to grab on to gently during certain times....
But after a conversation that we had about a month ago he doesn't really care.. at least that's what he says.. might be testing it here in a couple months.. been thinking about cutting my hair again.. too long, and starting to get unmanageable..

There are two things that my husband wants to do with my hair- smell and then brush it with his hands. :) I guess he finds it hard to do the last one if my hair will be shorter. He even told me that if I'll cut my hair short then he will really miss my long hair. hahaha! Well, if I can't cut my hair short I guess I'd just have it trimmed and put some style to it. :) Have a nice day!

Hi Ladyslipper,
I do not really care if my future girlfriend or wife has a long hair or a short one. As long as it is clean and tide, it would not bother me much.
My ex girlfriend has a short hair and I like it. But when I go out side the house and saw a girls with a long hair I like it too.
I think the girls with long hair need extra care for it. They need to make sure it is always clean and need them to wash it more then if they had a shorter one.

You are right. It takes more time to wash and also maintain a long hair. That's one of the reasons I want to cut my hair short. I'm always in a hurry especially in going to work. I sometimes find it a hassle to fix my long hair.
During summer also having a long hair is uncomfortable.

Maybe you look more cute with your hair long. Or maybe it doesn't suit you with your hair short. But i like girls with long hair because i think it's sexy.

Good topic,I think most of the man like women with long hair,me too,I think women with long hair are more attactive,I don't know why,but I just like that,I like to smell my girl fiend's hair when she finishes the bath and brush it.I feel so comfortable,nowadays,I find many men like to keep long hair ,I think that desn't meet eyes very much,but if I my girl friend insists on cutting it short,I won't reject.

Personally, I don't mind whether my wife has long or short hair, as long as she is comfortable with it. I do encounter girls who have short hair and yet look as sweet or pretty. Anyway, these are all external. I won't quarrel with my wife if she cut her hair short without asking me first. Pardon me, I am not comparing myself with your husband, but I really don't see the need to. Maybe he really loves your long hair very much, and it matters a lot to him.

I also have friends who have short hair but stunningly beuatiful and pretty. The reason I would want to have my hair cut short is because my cousin who used to have very long hair just got her hair cut short about weeks ago. We saw each other and I would say she looks fantastic with her hair. So I told my self I'd try it too for a change.

Long hair is just an identity.But to maintain is very difficult.Guys not only like long hair but also short hair.Its all depends upon the girl's desire.because for all girls long hair doesnt suite them.so depends upon their hair type they can grow or cut their hairs.

It should really be that way. Girls can choose whatever they prefer- short or long hair. Their are also men who does not really care whether the girl has a short or long hair. However, based on my experience most of the men I knew prefer girls with long and shiny hair. Thanks for responding!
