Last two days I fought with my PC.Lot of problems with XP....Lot of scams in Internet so virus easily gets affected to PC..Even though I installed antivirus there is still a problem...I don't know whether you people have heard about BSOD.."Blue Screen of Death"..This scree will appear when we made any major software or hardware changes..But I didn't do any major changes but still they come often...I didn't use linux because my sister use to install some softwares for her office work...Then my friend said we can install .exe files in linux with a special addon...and my friend uses linux mint..He siad to install...Then I thought of trying it...I just installed linux mint and it exactly similar to the XP..When I saw the applications and the features...I stunned to see....Nothing I have to download after installing the OS.It has all the softwares in it, mozilla, pidgin and all the basic we should have...Upon all linux don't needed a antivirus ...so now my PC working very good with fast and good animations...no need to refresh , no need to update ..wow...now all is there without any work....I missed linux these days...It attracted me a lot..Hope I wont get BSOD again.....
Have any of you tried linux or you still prefer windows xp.....?

I've heard so much about Linux and its positive things that its good against viruses. the Linux system seems to be protected against viruses and spam. however I always had xp and microsoft products to use therefore I use that. At my place of work we also use XP so I cannot do otherwise.

Hi,
Windows XP is simply not the OS it used to be a while ago. It is filled with Virus, Spyware, Malicious and Rogue softwares, etc. I was a regular Windows XP user until I found out that I was wasting too much time and money continuously reformatting my PC whenever it got infected (even though I had an antivirus) and switched to Linux.
There was this amazing Linux called Ubuntu 9.10 which I loved a lot. As you said, it had everything I needed and all for free. But I experienced several problems in Ubuntu as it would need to download and install codecs everytime I play a video, and thus really hated it's multimedia performance, though the animations were pretty cool.
I have now switched to Windows 7 Ultimate and it's really awesome as it is completely safe, stable and beautiful. I hope to get myself a Mac soon too.
Regards,
AJ-Rox

Sounds very awesome, but just a question, is it the same to navigate ?
I only like windows because i know it, and almost every computer in my country is born with it - included the price, so i feel like loosing some money if i install other systems.

Linux is free...no one will charge for it....There are lots of different linux versions...I'm just using one of it...I used XP for more than 5 years but now I'm getting lot of problems...it is getting affected by virus easily...So i installed linux...Now it is working fine...very fast also...lot of animations without graphics card...This linux mint is exactly the same as XP..no difference...so it will be very easy for the xp users...

Good for you on getting thru another XP disaster. I had a similar problem with it years ago and had to reinstall everything and lost lots of info and files. And just like you, I had virus protection but it didn't help. I haven't used Linux but have heard about how stable it is so best wishes for no more BSOD. AND yes, I have seen it firsthand! Take care!

Linux provides basic function&has none games. You must use sandbox to run .exe files in linux. It's limited. For me I prefer windows 7.It's more beautiful.I do not worry too much about safety.I have got nothing for hackers.Sometimes I use OSX,it's perfect&provides many fantanstic software.

Nope, I haven't tried Linux yet, but I don't use XP neither... I prefer Macs (even if they cost over my budget), because they are just so great
I have ordered two Linux versions totally free though. I don't even have to pay the transportation
When I will get them installed on my MacBook (or future iMac 27"), then I will think again. I have though of buying a PC though, and installing Linux on it.
Did you know that the main programmer of Linux (Name is something like "Linus") uses the Mac computers, but his own OS
Does that mean that Macs are better hardware and stuff than what PCs are? Would even Windows run better on a Mac?
