Battery calibration does not recondition the battery cells. It merely allows the notebook 'Smart' circuitry to predict how much charge the battery is holding at any given time. Battery calibration 'teaches' the Smart battery so that it can assess how long the battery will last if fully charged. It will then show the amount of remaining charge more accurately on future charges. A battery that has gone out of calibration may for an example, show 90% charge remaining whereas, in fact, there is less charge remaining. This may show itself when a notebook suddenly powers down while it reports a reasonable percentage of capacity remaining. Alternatively, the Windows battery power meter may show hardly any charge remaining after only say 1.5 hours of use, but the battery is only six months old, was fully charged and used to last much longer a few months previously.

Hi friend, I thought, this will be useful for you. How to perform a calibration (full discharge)? The most adequate method to do a full discharge (100% to about 3%) consists of the following procedures: Fully charge the battery to its maximum capacity (100%); Let the battery "rest" fully charged for 2 hours or more. You may use the computer normally within this period; Go to your Power Options in the Control Panel and configure the automatic hibernation to hibernate the computer when it reaches 3% of capacity; Leave the computer discharging, non-stop, until it hibernates itself. You may use the computer normally within this period; When the computer shuts down completely, let it stay in the hibernation state for 5 hours or even more; Plug the computer to the A/C power to perform a full charge non-stop until its maximum capacity (100%);
