If you are looking for a complete multimedia system with support for all codecs, with all proprietary drivers and with good graphics i would strongly suggests freespire. It is very easy to install distribution which is based on Debian Linux. This distro is the free version of linspire but with all the features of linspire. Freespire is mainly targeted at desktop Users. You can get hold of a freespire copy at www.freespire.org.
If you are looking for an easy to configure linux distro which can be used as a Desktop, server then go for opensuse. You can configure your entire system using easy to use GUI's. The only downside of suse is that it don't have support to proprietary drivers and codecs out of the box. You need to install all thee things manually. Opensuse site is at www.opensuse.org.

I suggest UBUNTU. It has GUI like Windows, and it's include on DEBIAN varian. But if u concern to learn about CLI (Command Line Interpreter), I suggest u to install SLACKWARE. It's the old version of Linux. It's simple! Once u get understand on slackware, it will become easier to try/taste/learn another distro. So...have a nice experiment;)

There are plenty of distributions to choose from , so I suggest that you try several of the major ones to see which suits you.
Someone has already suggested Vectorlinux, and I agree that it is a good choice, and I would also recommend Xandros Desktop which I am currently using on my laptop.
Quite a few distributions will operate from a "Live CD", which may be useful if you wish to try Linux for a couple of hours and then go back to Windows. A Live CD version does not need to be installed. Simply place the disk in your drive and restart the computer and you will have the option of using Linux without installation. Reboot the computer and remove the CD and you will return to Windows. This way you will not need to remove Windows before you are confident with Linux.
