Ateam of researchers from the University of Arizona has revisited evidence pointing to a cataclysmic event thought by many scientists to have wiped out the North American megafauna-such as mammoths, saber tooth cats, giant ground sloths and dire wolves-along with the Clovis hunter -gatherer culture some thirteen thousand year ago.Did a change in climate or an extraterrestial impact bring an end to the beasts and people that roamed the Southwest shortly after the last ice age?

My guess would be that the reason for the extinction for these beings from the past is because of some sort of cataclismic event. It seems that human beings and animals are able to adapt to changes in the environment, so I am pretty able to say that isn't the reason that these beings no longer roam the earth. However, when something happens very suddenly, there is no opportunity for animals to adapt, and thus I believe they will die.
