The Remake of the Fog question (spoiler alert)

Sooo I watched the remake of The Fog last night--and it was all fine and dandy. It was creepy, sure and it wasn't one of the worst remakes out there. It was smart because it stuck pretty close to the originals script...
But I didn't quite get the ending...
Was the blond girl a ghost the whole time? Or was she someone a descendant of the girl that died long ago in the fire, and the kiss MADE he a ghost?? I just did not get it! lol

I found that movie extremely confusing myself! It has been a bit since I watched it, but I think it was one of those endings that was purposely ambiguous. Maybe to promote discussion and controversy so that others would hear about it and want to go see it!
What is up with all the remakes lately? The Fog, The Mist, etc? They seem to stay pretty true to the original with some minor updating for nowadays.

The Mist was a remake!? I had no idea!!!
I actually really enjoyed the remake of The Hitcher. I thought it was really good because it stuck almost exactly to the originals script (even though a character was added)...and there wasn't a TON of blood and gore...that was minimal, which is good for me!
