Did anyone see the season premiere the other night? I saw it on the internet, as it doesn't air here in the US until April 17th. I thought it was awesome! Matt did a great job. He seemed to include some of David's mannerisms, which made me see him more as an extension of The Doctor.
Thoughts or ideas?

OH YEAH!!! It was AWESOME!!!
I bet the U.S. cuts a lot of stuff out
Yeah, Matt was GREAT! and I liked Amy, what a pretty gal! And her younger sister playing her younger self - what a GREAT JOB!
I really enjoyed it, but I knew Moffat would do a great job, after all, his stories were the best of the previous full seasons stories!

They didn't cut anything in the US version, they don't edit things out of Who in general when it comes to the US.
Also little Amelia was played by her cousin, who she had never met until the first day of read throughs.

I liked it. Personally, I liked it but, he has a far way to go, to be on a par with DT. After all, it was his first episode, and the previews they showed show that, this season looks pretty good.

Did you watch the second one yet? My husband downloaded it for me again. One of the torrent sites that he hadn't used before gave his computer a major virus though. We will have to only wait for our one trusted site from now on.
Matt showed some temper in the 2nd episode and Amy showed some initiative. Very good.

Hi Trace86. I watched it and thought is was a good first episode overall for Matt. I did notice that he did have a lot of David's mannerisms but I hope that was just down to the regeneration process not being fully complete. I just hope he is not going to be a carbon copy of David's Doctor, as each Doctor should have their own personality. I think Matt did a good job although he did not find his Doctor persona until toward the end of the episode.
I think it will take me a few episodes until I warm to him in the role. I did like the new Tardis design as it had a nice retro look. From the previews and what I have read there seem to be some very interesting episodes coming this seasons, I am looking forward to the Dalek episode in particular as the storyline seems an interesting one.
So I guess time will tell what kind of Doctor Matt will be and I am sure I will get used to his Dickie Bow and the new theme tune

Overall it was a good new season apart from a few weak episodes but they did a great finale. I love the fact that they have left us hanging with some unanswered questions that will carry over into the next season. I am looking forward to the Christmas special now, it's only a few months away
Thanks for the BR much appreciated

I've been getting my episodes off of the internet as well. I was skeptical at first about Matt as the new doctor, mostly because I loved DT soooo much. Which is partially why I understand them redoing the whole look of the show. I've always loved Steven Moffat's episodes in the past, and usually those are the ones that have gotten awards: The Doctor Dances, The Girl in the Fireplace, The Library episodes. I have absolutely loved both episodes of the new season. I love how, for me at least, I still totally feel like he's the Doctor, he's got some of those quirks that just make him the Doctor. Matt Smith's additions though, have also been amazing, I loved the bit about fish sticks and custard!! I absolutely loved the second episode. Amy just gets him, and I love that about her. I thought it was beautifully written, and very much representative of Steven Moffat. It's already among my favorite episodes of Who.
