Have you thought about installing solar panel?

Would Solar power be our future to generate electricity at home, instead of relying on local electric plant to supply us electricity? I think the business is out there, but it is not popular among us yet. Some states even apply Wind power, and make it available for home use too. Maybe it is too expensive to install one now, but it might be our future of token to reduce all those electricity bills.

As soon as I move into my own home and have saved up enough money, I will definitely buy solar panels and energy saving appliances. Although it costs a pretty penny to initially buy them they save money and also save the planet which is pretty important.

the initial cost of the solar energy is still to high.
but the running cost and the cost of energy is really low. so in long term there is a gain.
but i think government should give subsidy to promote this alternate energy resource and if not possible for all the home atleast for some equipment burden it could bear and i think this will really help alot.

This sounds like a great idea and this is definitely the future! I just think it is far too expensive right now to install! I think they say you will save yourself a lot of money in the long run but I guess I'm kind of hoping that things become a lot cheaper over the years. Solar panels look very nice on top of the roof in any case. I think we have to start taking this seriously though in terms of saving electricity and trying to save the planet! I think the more people become involved the more others will be encouraged to follow suit! Andrew

I grew up in a house that had solar panels... WAAAAAY before they were cool. (Pun)
I would love solar panels. I have a friend that his whole house is green. He doesn't want to pay for electricity, gas... he chops wood and has solar panels. He's like Mountain Mike or Gentle Ben or Daniel Boone or something!

I like to install but before that I would like the expenditure for installation and there after its maintenance. If it is within my limit ,then I will certainly install.
Happy myLotting.

Once or twice- i think ti would help to conserve energy but it's expensive.

Solar panels are expensive initially. But they would become economical as we start using it in the long run.Even the generation of wind power is also feasible and would be economical as we regularly use them. I am thinking of installing a solar panel as an experimental measure for charging batteries initially.

Dear friend,
If it has be installed in our place we need to get a special sanction from our Corporation and they also ask for an extra tax. But those electricity bills are saved. Mostly in our large scale power consumption are mostly using solar panels. It is a best alternative for electricity.

I would love to have a solar-powered home. Not only would it look cool, it would also be a renewable source of energy. Mighty critical these days. However, I am living in the Philippines and have not heard of where these is being made commercially available. I can imagine how expensive it can be though but you might as well think of it as an investment that would actually pay for itself in the future.

I really wish I could afford to put solar panels on my home. I'm not sure the wind energy will be here to last, unless they are able to create smaller and less noisy ones. The concept is great as wind is free and available as an energy source, however the windmills pollute pristine nature areas by their size and noise.
In the US, we are given grants to have either solar or wind installed on our homes. The problem is one must have available money to get it as the grants cover only a percentage of the cost.
Water is a tremendous source of power for those who live near it. There is developing technology to use the waves in lakes to create energy for our use.
It would be very nice indeed to be hooked up to some of these things, as the power company robs me every month for simply using electricity.

No never as it takes too much of space and also required too much of maintainance and hence when i saw that in one of my relatives house i dropped the idea

I already thought in installing solar panel, but only in theory. In pratice not, because would be expensive for me to change all the estructure of my house to adapt with this technology. Here where I live solar panel would be a good one, because it is a country that the sun is excessive, a tropical country. So, the sun is always here. My house would be powerful. :P

do you know that the chemicals, used to produce solar panels, are one of the most nature-polluting? and do you know, that their main parts are maid in atom electricity centrals?
and one more fact: for their optimum physical life of 10 years they produce only 80-90% of the energy you used to produce them (not including the wires, the transportation and the installing)
so, do you still think it's the future?

The idea of solar panels are great; however there's still a lot of hurdles to go through. First off: your roof has to be made in such a way that there is enough room in sections that actually get sunlight during the majority of the day to work. They are expensive initially and do require a bit in maintenance. Also the amount of power they generate alone is still not quite sufficient to power many of today's modern homes that have multiple high-definition televisions, computers, air-conditioning, etc.
There's a battery in the initial development phases right now that is designed to store power from sources of energy (such as solar panels) that would then power your home during the evenings. This combined with an effective solar-panel array would effectively eliminate the need for outside power. If both solar panels and this battery get to an affordable price (as in less than $15k for both of them after install) then it could be a great thing; however I think that's still a distant idea for now.
Oh, and not to mention that Energy companies would have to make it easier to use alternate forms of energy; I keep hearing that a lot of them would fight with you in order to "ensure you continue to be a customer." Nothing confirmed so I take that with a grain of salt, but it's still a consideration.

I think for Singapore, it's not easy to implement it on the housing flats since they still belonged to government. So it would only be possible if it becomes a government initiative. Or else, you need to live at private houses to install that. So I don't think I would be able to install solar panels any time sooner.

i actually have considered to install solar panel but it's still very expensive and not very efficient in creating electricity.besides,i believe in the coming future, solar energy will be
used by every family and solar panel or solar devices will be applied to every house and building.more importantly they will be more cheaper and efficient.i'm hoping for that.
