Count the calories as you eat. It’s a good idea to have an idea of the calories that most food items have. If it is a packed thing then the label is sure to have the calories that the substance has.

Drink plenty of water. Our body needs a lot of water so give in to water. Water is not just way to flush out toxin but if you have more water in your body you will generally feel healthier and fitter. This it self will discourage any tendency to gorge. The best thing about water is that is has no calories at all.

I like spices now and then but actually I don't have them every day, I guess I like to miss them. I do however, add in my green tea to my diet every day which also speeds up your metabolism, plus its good for you too. I like to use the organic green tea that I just buy from the store or supermarket. I think it tastes better and obviously is better for you too. I love organic produce too but there is not much available at my supermarket, only a few items like carrots and so forth. Eating well also helps the metabolism too. You also need some good healthy fats in there too.

I know that there are some food components that help burn fat if eaten in moderation. I don't think there is a magic bullet for this one but http://www.genuinefatloss.com/Genuine_Fat_Loss_Diet.html has a decent guide to what these dietary components are. There is also the concept of the fructose paradox which must be borne in mind

I heard that chili peppers speed up metabolism. In my case coffee helps a lot. Food and drinks high in fiber like fresh pineapple juice also helps a lot. Have you tried nesvita? It's very inexpensive and yet it's really high in fiber that it flushes out everything in just a few minutes.
