Wrong Grammar in Responses

Are you particular with your grammars in responding discussions or not? I notice that some discussions have very bad grammars, you can hardly understand what they really mean. What's your comment on this?

i don't mind at all. but if the discussion is very interesting for me, i throw some questions back to clarify things if i get the response right. but the point of discussion is to let out other opinions and ideas. i hope grammar does not stifle and prevent that. another thing is that many mylotters are not native english speakers like me. so i understand them if they have grammatical errors like i commit some from time to time.

I think we had to understand them because no one is perfect. We can commit a mistake but try it to correct it later. Mylot is a good way of practicing your English fluency with other nationality. We're not also perfect all the time. We commit mistake.

That's the good thing about mylot. You don't have to pay close attention to your grammar and you can still earn by using broken english. In my case, i usually notice wrong grammar after i posted my comments which is already too late to correct. I usually ignore it or just post another comment to correct the mistake. But i don't complain about other's wrong grammar, i just read between the lines and connect things together. Another reason is i'm not a native english speaker so i would rather review my own work than pay attention to others.

you're both correct. If we really want to use a certain language perfectly then we have to study and learn the language by heart. But even languages evolved. What's appropriate before may not be practical to use anymore. Some words even die since it's no longer being used. Although we owe it to everyone to come up with the right grammar every time, we should not take it against anybody especially if we can see that that person struggles and makes an effort just to send his message across. Cheers to you both!

Yes you are right portisray, even those who are born and lived in USA all their life makes grammar errors. That is why we have subjects like Filipino in the Philippines coz we cannot perfect our own language either. Same as English in US.

That's correct ybong007! Since we're both here in the Philippines... we can understand English but to speak and write a proper English - we are not that very good... Sometimes if I read some of the discussions here, you'll know if that person is a native English speaker... But sometimes, if I look into their profile, they live in US of A!

According to myLot guidelines "Everyone is welcome at myLot, we have users from all around the world and they are welcome regardless of their proficiency with the English Language." Sorry, but you have to live with our bad grammar, laurenban.

I didn't say I have perfect grammars because I too is not that fluent in English and grammars topffer. I try to post my responses in the way that my idea come across correctly. But we cannot deny that "some" responses are very much "hard to understand".

Well, I myself am particular with the way i respond to some posts. But I don't mind people who are posting with wrong grammar. I get typos myself. What's important is the message they're trying to get across. Remember, everyone is welcome in myLot, and 'everyone' is a whole lot of people from across the globe. I guess I'm more at awe that I get to interact with a whole lot of people of different cultures and races rather than notice that they have wrong grammar. :)

Not so about the grammar, I'm trying to understand what message he is conveying. And watch-out those people, time will come that they will be a like a professional in their grammar and that I think is the best purpose and intention of mylot.
