I have been connected to a wifi in our area. However, recently, I can no longer connect to wifi. The wifi is not ours perhaps its from one of our neighbors i just dont know which one.. My question is, how can I connect to wifi again? I keep getting the local only access.. How can I connect to the internet? Should I change settings in my computer? Please help

I am not computer expert, but if you are using wifi connection before from one of your neighbors probably they already block you that is why you can no longer access to wifi. However if you are in a wife zone, usually they are providing codes for the wife connection. I guess there is no need for you to change the settings in your computer.

I agree with simi234 that your neighbor could have password-protect his wireless network. Only with the correct network key can you connect to his wireless modem and surf the Net. If your laptop can detect that there are available wireless networks around you when you switch on your wifi, then it means your wireless network adapter is working fine. You may want to go to some wifi hotspots in your neighborhood where you may be able to surf the Net for free. Ask the person-in-charge to give you an access password.

There must be a button on your laptop that allows to switch on/off wireless networks. Switch it on and search for available wireless networks. You will get a list of networks available.
Choose the network you connected to earlier and enjoy.
One reason that you are not able to connect to wifi anymore can be the wifi owner must have made it password protected. Most of the wifi are password protected and you need some key to gain access to it.
