Hi friends of Mylot! I just got to thinking about my discussions in the past, and my more recent discussions. I used to get tons of responses to my posts. Typically they were mindless posts, or simple questions. More recently I have posted more serious topics, maybe even sad and a little scary. I cant believe how many posts I have made that there have been zero responses. I wonder if its because people are afraid to go that deep, or if they are just ignorant to the topic, or simply agree with the stigma and taboo associated with my topics. I feel like my recent posts have been informative, and insightful, yet people choose not to respond, or maybe even read them after they see the title has the word suicide. What are your ideas? Do you think my assumptions on why I have no responses is correct? Or do you feel like I am completely off base?

I must admit, there are times that I don't respond to some discussions here. That's because I feel like I cannot contribute something meaningful to the discussion or I can't put the words together. Maybe that's also the case for some myLotters. I've also started discussions that had only a few responses and they were the more serious ones, some a bit asking for advice or just asking a few things. Don't take it against them if they don't respond to your discussions. I've learned to brush that aside and continue posting responses to other discussions that interest me.

For me it's not a matter of ignoring some topics, its just I have no idea how to respond to some of them. I either can't put my words together to form anything that makes sense. Sometimes I really want to say something but as I scroll down other people have said pretty much what I was going to say. Also I hate writing only a few things. I like topics where I can blab on and actually post a fair bit. I have noticed as well some of my topics just aren't as hot. I feel that has something to do with the time of my posts. Most of mine are done in the night hours and many people aren't on when I am. So by the time morning comes there is a whole new page of new posts, hot topics, and so on. I feel my friends only comment on my topics when they view my profile, or after I respond to one of their topics then they kind of repay the favor. Don't be discouraged, we all have our ups and downs on sites like this.

but so many say that and why not just write down what is in your heart and let the poster be the judge of whether or notit makes sense, most posters without many responses would be thrilled at your response.

You know I might just try that. Like right now, I don't know what else to respond about. My mind just draws a blank.

hi jess I think a lot of times we get better responses at certain times of the day as compared to others, and you may just have been unlucky in your timing. too some people here, probably more the younger ones get too lazy to read any really informative post and look for the one or two sentence ones which are usually as inane as heck and boring too. keep up posting good quality posts and sooner or later some of us more discerning ones will respond. I will look for your posts myself to help out and maybe trigger more answers too. good luck God bless Jess.

Thanks Hatley, and it really isnt about getting responses just to get them. Its about people reading posts that should be read. Many of my new ideas are based on personal experience, and I just want others to hear the story, and share there own. Healing takes place only when we talk about our trials.

..Hi there jess, I am of the opinion that there is no scientific way to determine why certain people respond or don't respond to certain topics. I think that when a person reads a discussion question and it hits a button, they start to write. With everything that goes on daily in people's lives, I don't think they want to take the time to respond to complicated things, it just adds to their possible stress level. People who like to express themselves will do so regardless, but in that case, the subject has to be something that grabs their attention. I posed a simple question the other day, I received one response. Soooo, you just never know. It may just be the intensity of the moonlight. "o) Take care, keep posting.

Thing is, people tend to respond to a more easier discussion so they can respond to it more quickly, thus, moving quickly to another one. Which can then make them earn more. I've noticed it too. There are only a few who just respond to serious ones and these users i admire the most cuz it goes to show that they still care about informative and serious topics.

Agreed. The original purpose of this site was not to post silly yes and no questions. It was a place to become informed, and ask for advice, etc. Not what color is your hair, or things of that nature. I am guilty of making silly mindless posts, but I also use this site for its original purposes.

It is not that your posts are uninteresting but sometimes people are not into deep discussions as it entails more brain juices to think and to come up with a solid answers. They are just lazy to utilize their God gifted brains. Rather than taking longer time on one topic they might as well go for something that don't exert too much of their brains. I do posts some mind boggling discussions that test the unlimited capacity of human thinking and am happy to get at least two pages of responses compared to some of my lighter discussions which often hit the roof with responses.

I have replied to many discussions. Some are easy to respond and some I don't know. But I try to respond to many discussions that I can.Sometimes, people don't know the answer, they say whatever they know. Also there are people who are mylotting only for money not for social reasons. So,these people are ignoring your posts. So,don't worry;you will get reply.
