Do You Have Your Dogs Groomed or Do You Do It Yourself?

I have got two miniature poodle dogs called Secret and Magic. They have coats that are non-moulting and their fur grows. Therefore I have to have my dogs groomed every six to eight weeks. I tried buying a grooming kit. My dogs were nervous when I tried trimming their coats with it. Once I had trimmed too much I felt ashamed that they looked so terrible. Therefore I took them to a professional grooming parlor and it cost me £50. I had to travel over there by bus and it made my dogs terrified. I saw an advert from the dog groomer that now does my two dogs. She is trimming Magic right now. When she has finished she will do Secret. She goes to people's homes to groom their dogs. It is ideal for me and works out at £40. So it makes me totally happy and gives my dogs the least amount of stress. Yes, grooming your dogs yourself can be challenging and time consuming.

Well if you have the money to spare and time is an issue, a groomer is a great option to use. Personally, my pup doesn't go to the groomer. I bath, brush and trim her hair. I find it an especially rewarding time to bond more with my dog and to continue to teach her discipline. She loves to be clean and her hair all brushed out as I think most dogs do. Fortunately my sister is a dog groomer, so I am learning about cutting my dogs hair, which, since she is a Yorkshire Terrier X, I try not to have to do too much of. I also bought a Wahl grooming kit. The cool thing about it is that it came with a DVD that covers cutting dogs hair by breed. Most useful. Although I am still only trimming the underside of the paws and a bit of the hair atop her head so it doesn't fall into her eyes. I have not used the clippers on her as of yet because I am still getting her used of them and myself familiar with them as well. I know that I will not fully clip my dog anyway so I am not even sure why I have them. I did learn some useful things via the video however. Since you have more than one dog, maybe choose different days to do each of them rather than them all at once, on the same day. Dogs do take a commitment of time, even if you do take them to the groomers. My dog takes up half my days, with walks and feeding alone (I cook for my dog twice a day) My pup goes to the vet every three months now for her nail trim and gland extraction. I wont do her nails because they are black and I am afraid to do them because I don't want to hurt her by accidentally cutting too much off. I let the vet do it because they are more experienced and if they accidentally went to far, then they have the means and expertise to deal with it. I have the tools, I am just not able to do it myself. Perhaps sometime I will. My dog also gets her teeth brushed once a day as well and is when I also wash her face, condition and brush her hair. I brush her again at night.

I groom Gissi myself but then again I only have Gissi and he is little Also I know Gissi would not let anyone else do it Clipping his Nails I take him to the Vet to have it done as it is normally just the Dew Claws that need doing on Gissi and that is an ordeal he hates it

We have shih tzu which need constant grooming but we can't afford much to take her to the groomer so we groom her ourselves. We have just cut her coat for now because the weather is hot here now. Her nails are cut by us too,

I only have one dog so I groomed my dog myself and its don't took to much time. I only have to bathe him every two week and clean his ear after that I will drive him with towel and give him sun bath until really dry. After dry I will brush the fur. I don't need to clip the nail because his nail always short because he walk every day. Groom 4 dog alone will be make me very tired.

I have no pets,but i hope i can have a Golden Retriever in the near future.I think the Golden Retriever is so cute.

I don't get my dog groomed, but then again my dog is a 7 lb., 3/4 Chihuahua 1/4 Corgi mix. So all I have to do is wash him and brush him.

When we had dogs, we mostly took care of them ourselves, but usually when summer came around, we would take them to a groomer for a nice, short summer hair cut.

I take my little cockapoo to the groomers. I think he likes going and being around other dogs and then playing around with them when he is done. He is a little hyper dog so nto to sure how he is when Sandy the groomer is grooming him. Sandy is not to expensive but my dog is really little at weighting only 12 pounds. He is 30 dollars and i give her 35 dollars. Sandy also does boarding so for us that is really good because she also has a little dog and he can have fun playing while he is there.

I have a poodle and a rat terrier. The latter is care free as far as grooming goes. I'm sure dealing with the shedding won't seem so care free when that time comes, though. As for the poodle, I groom him myself. IT's not always an easy job, and he doesn't always come out looking all pretty, but it does save money. Of course, I'm not big on the normal "poodle do" so he usually only gets a shave.
