Usually, when we are sick, of course, we take medication with hope to recover, right? The question is until when you want depend on medicine? Is it after taking medicine, you are truly healed? I am sure, the answer is no. Because once the medicine stopped, you get sick again. How many doctors only ask 'what your disease' and then said 'this medicine to your disease' ? Are you ever ask to your doctor, 'What's my disease, doctors ?' you must know, my friends .... the medicines is NOT ANSWER for your disease. Disease actually is introspection. When sick, we should stop and look to back then must think, what has gone wrong in my body? Well, the key to be cure a disease actually is do introspection. I am sure all doctors know that diabetes, stroke, and cancer is a disease of lifestyle. But the question is, how far a doctor try improve the patient's lifestyle? A good doctor should try emphasize the principle of a healthy lifestyle to their patients. not direct decide give drugs to their patients.

Hi Advokatku Actually many a times the cause of a disease or sickness may not be really physical at all - it could always be related to psychological or some life-style; that needs to be checked into, in fact when the medicines do not work mostly this is the cause.

Well said! I agree with you medicines are just temporary solution to the sickness. And one should always find out the reason. But problem is some disease are too late to think about it. And the main reason lifestyle 99%. Doctors they just worry about curing the disease than helping out the precaution of healthy life.

I'm sorry friend but I'd have to disagree with you on this one. There are different types of medication. One is called 'maintenance', it's not meant to cure diseases or sickness like Hypertension, Diabetes and etc. because these conditions are incurable. Why? Let's take for example Hypertension. Hypertension is a chronic medical condition in which the blood pressure is elevated. It is also referred to as high blood pressure or shortened to HT, HTN or HPN. The word "hypertension", by itself, normally refers to systemic, arterial hypertension (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypertension) this is caused by the blockage of the arteries with plaques caused by food intake and heredity. It's like when you have a water hose and you squeeze the hose and the water would squirt faster. This is not some disease caused by bacteria (which could be completely healed), this is a condition. You take 'maintenance' medicines for this one in order that your heart be regulated and the pressure be normalized. When you stop taking these 'maintenance' meds, nothing will control or regulate your heart thus you die of heart attack etc. Another example is Daibetes, Diabetes mellitus — often simply referred to as diabetes—is a condition in which a person has a high blood sugar (glucose) level, either because the body doesn't produce enough insulin, or because body cells don't properly respond to the insulin that is produced. Insulin is a hormone produced in the pancreas which enables body cells to absorb glucose, to turn into energy. If the body cells do not absorb the glucose, the glucose accumulates in the blood (hyperglycemia), leading to vascular, nerve, and other complications. There are many types of diabetes, the most common of which are: * Type 1 diabetes: results from the body's failure to produce insulin, and presently requires the person to inject insulin. * Type 2 diabetes: results from insulin resistance, a condition in which cells fail to use insulin properly, sometimes combined with an absolute insulin deficiency. * Gestational diabetes: is when pregnant women, who have never had diabetes before, have a high blood glucose level during pregnancy. It may precede development of type 2 DM. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diabetes) Diabetes is due to heredity or simply a body's failure to regular insulin or produce one due to problems with the liver. It's incurable because it's not caused by a disease or bacteria. It's like when your car breaks down. It's not caused by a sudden surge of energy or someone threw a stone, it simply means that perhaps the car has outdone it's useful stage. Another sample would be your computer. Sooner or later, your computer is bound to give-up when it has surpassed it's useful life. It's not because of virus, it simply just surpassed it's useful life. Therefore, you'd need 'maintenance' medicines for your Diabetes because they help your body regulate the supply of insulin. It's like coffee in the morning to help you wake up, the meds help your liver function. So, you may sometimes need introspection, or even rest. But it is not always the case. Which is why regardless how many alternative medicines or practices would claim, Medical laboratory exams and Doctors (who by the way have spent half their lives studying) and Pharmaceutical Companies (who have greatly spent a lot to create the medicines and try it out and pass all regulations and clinical studies). Will always be important in our lives. Yes, we may all have all the information in the internet, but if we're not really practicing it for years nor studying it a lot nor have the Degree as those professionals, we'll still be laymen trying to self medicate and soon harm ourselves more than do good.

advokatku that is all well and good but a lot of us living today would not be here if not for the medicines the doctor prescribes and we take but more and more doctors are now treating the whole body.In other words while we get prescribed medications to treat our disease we also get information to help us live better lives and to control our diabetes. we are shown how changes in our life style can make it much easier for us to live normal healthy lives even with a chronic disease like diabetes. My doctor always suggests ways to help me keep my blood sugar under control.I have nothing but praise for doctors who give us information as well as medications. also we can do much for ourselves with out having to go to our doctors for simple maladies we can treat ourselves. you do not go to a doctor to clean a little cut and put antiseptic ointment on it and a bandaid.

i agree - most of the diseases result from our lifestyle changing the way you live, think, the way you accept yourself and what happens around you - all this can happen to get rid of many of your chronic diseases but do you have any idea what efforts it takes to change your way of thinking? people have difficulties with their diet or physical regime, what about to change constantly your mind if doctor's prescription says: "start thinking positive and seeing the bright side, start respecting and loving yourself" - how many people will follow this, what do you think?

True that medicines are not the only answer to cure the diseases. When somebody is ill, when appraoch a Doctor he prescribes the medicines which almost seams to cure the diseases but result in some side effects. There is no medicine without any side effects. So its wise to have healthy life style by eating a balanced diet with proper supplements inorder to increase our immunity level. Once our immunity level is high there are less chance of getting any diseases. I also work for the 'Health & wellness' dealing with natural nutrition supplements for a healthy living. So if you are interested to have a balanced nutrition, I will help you.

this view of medicine is very arrogant. the way people try to take a naturalistic and holistic approach to medicine, which is a valid technological advance that man has made, is kind of ridiculous. It seems futile to try to avoid the advances of technology especially when theyre so beneficial in so many ways.
