True Love or not? Marrying Inanimate Objects

Objectum Sexuality -- a definition please; is the desire to marry a particular inanimate object.
Some people had expressed love, commitment and attraction to certain items, fixtures, structures and even buildings.
I read an article just a while ago about a woman marrying the Eiffel tower. The first incident of this rare case was actually reported some 29 years ago when a German woman married the Berlin wall. They had a great relationship, they never argue on anything. LOL!!
Psychologists explain that those persons suffering from OS long for someone who will not betray them, who will never let them down and won't leave them.
What's your take on this? Any explanation?
Most of the self-confessed OS (numbering to about 40) are women. Is there an explanation? Is it because of man's infidelity, dishonesty?
Open mic!! Your thoughts on this guys!!

I personally don't understand it, but then again I don't get attached to objects for example I am using my laptop now, I don't know what I would do without a laptop but if this laptop broke I would not be heartbroken, I would replace it with a new one.
I struggle enough to get my head round people naming inanimate objects, for example a few of my friends have named their cars. Never-mind trying to understand why someone would marry an inanimate object.
It is obviously some form of emotional crutch, a woman wanting something to be constant in her life. But you can have something constant without marrying it (but then again I don't hold a high opinion of marriage either).
Maybe I need to be less satirical and believe that if someone is in love with anything to the point they want to marry it then I should be happy that there is more love in the world and less hate.

I really love how you nailed it. A little more love and a little less hate.

Perhaps this is just a sort of a psychological disorder, a deliberate escape route that may have been caused by any reason.I have heard people being wedded to their profession or wedded to a cause where some people stay unmarried because they have some other career objectives or social commitment.

Yup, we all know that those cases are of a psychological nature but what bugs me is "why"?
The specific "why" Is it because of man's common infidelity?

YOu say it is common infidelity. But this alone cannot be the answer. Why?Man can also get wedded to somehting other than a girl isn't it?how do you account for it then?
THese things just happen.THere would be any nuber of causes like circumstances, past abuse of some kind, complicated upbringing, product of broken homes, -anything is possible .

Those where the answers we're looking for. You've just nailed them.
Past abuse, complicated upbringing, broken homes.
In addition it could also be a result of a prolonged depression, it also may or may not be hereditary.

It does sound really crazy! But these people to me have psychological problems, and I think the reason behind stems not just from traumatic romantic relationships but more of traumatic childhood experiences. perhaps the person got so traumatized by the divorce of their parents, or from defective fatherhood parenting. Most psychological problems which some people experience today seem to always stem from childhood struggles.
These people don't need judgment. They need understanding and well, THERAPY!

Yup, I agree those people suffering from such a disorder need therapy. On the other hand, you perfectly pointed out some of the reasons why people experience OS. Thanks,

Thanks for sharing this new piece of info. I am learning more in mylot.hehe. Anyway, I guess the reason why they marry inanimate objects is fear of being left. That's all.LOL. I having nothing more to say.ahaha. I can't relate to this topic.LMAO.

Hello,
Well this issue is not confined in marital relationships only. Besides infidelity there are other forms of predicaments as well. And then again, infidelity is a composite word. Though it is used nowadays only in a very narrow context, but it originally means distrust. Now, this lack of faith is a malaise in almost every soul here. I have seen people get extremely religious after a very bitter break up, or infidelity of such. I don't know about the statistics, but those whom I've seen like this were mostly men. I don't know which one should I believe, the chart that has figures, or the faces and minds that are disfigured. But I totally agree with what you've stated here as the root cause of this disposition in human beings.
God bless you

LOL. I think you are stirring up a hornet's nest here. People lack faith among each other because they lack faith in themselves. One should first love God, and then love all human beings through Him. But we do just the opposite. I idolize a human being, we love and respect him as God himself and totally forget the fact that as any other human being he too is not perfect. Ignoring this simple truth increases our expectations manifold. When this expectation is not returned we fall like a dove whose wings are suddenly paralyzed. As a unfortunate result, we loose our faith.

On the contrary, you are absolutely correct. Infidelity is a very broad word. It could have many connotations. It is the lack of faith, yes it is. Now why do people lack faith among each other?

This is an obsession or something else emotional they felt on objects. Maybe there are memories on objects.

Perhaps... The object might have a sentimental value to them or they just feel a sort of extreme nostalgia with the thing.

It could be anything really - but I believe it to be a disorder of some sort. It's not just about men being dishonest or unfaithful (there are women who are attracted to other women remember), I could make a guess on this one, it could be the obsession to a particular object, coupled with the fear of failure in romantic relationships (with a human being). I myself am perplexed about OS.

We all know that it's a disorder but what we do not know is what causes that kind of disorder. Is it because of dishonesty? What's the specific reason behind the disorder?

My first thought is that this is definitely strange. It is definitely not something that I would take part in, but then again, there are not that many people at all that have gotten married to inanimate objects. As for my opinion, I think that an important part of a marriage is the interaction between two individuals. In the situation where you are married to an item, then this interaction doesn't exist and thus there is no relationship at all whatsoever.

there is a guy I heard about who is into this stuff. he "married" his pillow! thats right, the fool liked a certain anime female character so much, he bought a pillow with "her" picture on it and had a real wedding with it!. he takes the pillow to fast food places, the movies, stores.etc you can find the story on sankaku complex.com- it covers all kinds of crazy stories from japan.
