My husband says I am a pessimist. I do not agree with that fully, but I still think and be prepared for both the positive and negative result of an incident. I think that I am trying to be practical and I should not be called a pessimist. Life taught me to be practical and not in the dream world of high optimism. Do you agree?
I belive it is always good to expect less because you won't be mentally hurt when things go wrong and you will be very happy when things come out well.

I also agree that it is good to be optimistic because optimism gives you a lot of confidence to achieve your goals. The push you get to achieve your goals is important in your attempt of achievement. But, I am an emotional person who worries for even a small issue. So, I feel that I will be greatly disppointed if something goes wrong. Optimism is associated with a lot of hope or expectation.

All of us are pessimist at one point. It's because we protect ourselves unconsciously to certain events that may occur. It's called being careful. Your husband is wrong. He just jumped to conclusion that in fact you are a pessimist when you really are not.

I used to be an over confident person. Some sitautions in life made me think that I should be practical. There is no point in being over confident and getting hurt. Rather I am a very emotional person. So, I belive I should possess practical thinking and keep my expectation according to that level. It is great of your to share your thoughts on this topic.

id rather use the term 'realistic' as to 'pessimist'. i do agree that one must lower his/her expectations so as not to get hurt or be disappointed.
i watched a show on TV wherein the character, with conviction, declared that the secret to a happy life is lowered expectation. this may have been delivered as a joke, though there is really a speck of truth behind it.

Being pessimitic has its own advantages. We cant show to the world that we are very optimistic about everything just to show off. As u said that by being pessimistic we are actually guarding against something unexpected so that we are not taken by surprise or ill prepared to face it

Hi,there.I once a totally pessimist person. When I do something I always feel that I would be failed surely. But now I changed a lot.Pessimism leads to weakness, optimism to power. But it's so difficult to be a optimist cause we feel disppointed about this world.I think to be a practical person is much easier and shouldn't be blamed. We expect less so that we wouldn't get so much disppointment.Just like you said, when we get a happy ending we will be happier.
