I need help! Which is better? Standard Advertising or Banner Advertising?

Hello guys! I'm pretty sure a lot of you have noticed. banners of some websites on PTC sites. My group is planning on promoting our website in a PTC site and it will cost us extra bucks. Before we do I wanted to ask for your opinion on which is better: banner advertising or standard advertising? Banner advertising costs less, but only the banner linked to our website is shown. On the other hand standard advertising involves a direct link to our page, the one that is show when users click on ads. What do you think is better? We have a lot of banners in our site so we're thinking that standard advertising is better since it directs clickers exactly to our site, but it will cost us more. What do you think?
