I was seeing a film where a 8 year old wanted her ears pierced and I became my mom for a moment ad I said , not until you are 13 girl! I got my ears pierced when I was 13, bat mitzvah age, lol. Funny at the time I wasn't Jewish and my mom wasn't either! Anyway since I got my ears pierced when i was 13 so I say 13. How about you. What age would you like your kid get his or her ear or ears pierced?

I've answered several discussions about ear-piercing... and I think that, first and foremost, it has to be a conscious and informed decision by the person who is being pierced but, in the case of a child, the parent has to be sufficiently confident that the child can have them pierced safely, care for them safely and wear them in safety. So, basically, when they're old/mature/sensible enough to make the decision and deal with the piercings safely.
I feel very strongly that a child should not have their ears pierced just because their mum think it will make them look cute.

I personally think that a chlld needs to wait until he/she is responsible enough to handle the job it takes to keep the ears from getting infected. Basically, it depends on the maturity and responsiblity level the child has. I was 13 when I got mine pierced, but had been pestering my mother to let me since I was 11. I came home from school one day to find she had her ears pierced and I was so upset. Her reasoning for not letting me get my ear pierced sooner was that she was afraid it would hurt me so she had to wait to gather up her courage to get it done herself. Once she found out that it didn't really hurt she let me get mine pierced.

My mom let me at 13 because it was my sister that took me and not her! I think she was leery of the procedure. I remember trying to tell her it was just a hrad pinch but she was still uneasy.

Most girls in my hometown get their ears pierced soon after birth. There are hospitals wherein, at birth, the nurse would ask the mom if she'd like to have her baby girl's ears pierced. I think they offer it as free bonus at the hospital. I got mine pierced when I was 10, then it closed, then tried again at 12 or 13. Not that my mother didn't want it, coz she was pretty ok with pierced ears no matter what age. I won't mind if my girl gets her ears pierced soon after birth. But for a boy, it would be a definite NO from me, no matter what age, as long as he's under my roof.

When I was 2 year old I think? Because here in our country getting pierced at the young age is ok but only for the girls and boys are sometimes not allowed to be pierced.

Well, it depends a lot on culture and customs. Here in India you’ll find even babies with their ears pierced and schools that will not allow any make-up and accessories, will OK a small gold stud or thin earring for the girls from kindergarten itself…its just a way of Indian life that little girls wear rings all the time. I don’t even remember when I had my ears pierced, my mom says she’s got it done when I was 3 months old LOL

I think is is fine to get a little girls ears pierced if she asks her parents. She should be older than eight years old. She might be nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen or sixteen years old. Usually physical education teachers have rules about students wearing earrings. I had my ears pierced when I was eight years old. I asked my mother if she would have hers pierced when she reaches eighty years old. I don't think she will want to get her ears pierced. Some parents get their young child's ears pierced. That is their choice and it seems acceptable to me.

Haha, my ears haven't been pierced until now:) I am afraid of the pain, and I don't wear jewelry. This is why I don't need to wear earrings. And this is why I don't want to have my ears pierced. Besides, my child is a boy. So I don't think he will have his ears pierced one day. I don't like boys to have earrings. Men should look like men.

I was around the same age when I got mine pierced. I was 12 or 13, forgot which one. I plainly remember my Mama telling me that she did not like the idea but I could do it but I HAD to take care of my ears and if they got infected the least little bit I would have to let the holes grow back up. That made me clean my ears almost constantly and I did not get an infection. My cousin and my sister got their daughters ears pierced when they were very young (1 yr or less) and after the girls were old enough to mess with the earrings they lost several pairs. ( I am unsure if they were the safety back kinds or not)? I say it depends on the if the child is mature enough to take care of it or if it is tradition to get ears pierced early then that is what happens!

My mom didn't object to me getting my ears pierced,it was that she didn't want to be the one to take me to get them pierced! My sister took me. I agree before I was 13, I would haven't taken care of my ears, I was too busy playing with both my girl and boy friends to be concerned with my ears.

i guess that they can also get their child pierce even after the child birth in the hospital if they offer those kind of service. i have a friend who used to have that with her child its risky coz the bay might scratch her ears. so i prefer if the child already old enough to understand whats piercing all about.

I would say either have it done real early in life (less than 3 yrs old) or wait until they are responsible to take care of the piercings themself. For some this may be 8 and for others this may be 18.
When my cousin went to get her ears pierced, she had the first one done when she was 8-9. She screamed and fought so much that they refused to do the second one. It was not until she turned 14 that she had the second one piereced. So that middle of the road age is hard to determine if they will be responsible for taking care of them.

Hello sarhruthbeth22
If I can choose it again, I may not want my ears pierced. I got my ears pierced when I was about 18, I did it because my sister told me to it, I didn't refuse so my ears got pierced. ^^
