Set aside specific times to do your work. Work in a separate quiet room, filled with things that remind you of your goals and dreams, and keep your desire for working from home alive, so that each time you look around, you are reminded to get back to work. With appreciation.

That doesn't prevent people from interrupting you.

That does prevent people from interrupting me. My family understands that work time at home, is still work time, and that when I am working to not disturb me. Perhaps making a similar rule could benefit you as well. With appreciation.

I think you have to be immunized and learn to live with them, I mean, learn to ignore them. I know it's difficult especially if it's kids, but just try to ignore them if you can. If you really can't do it, I suggest find yourself a room of your own, lock the door, and shut yourself in until your work is done.

Good suggestions... Except for those that are single parents and primary caregivers. Luckily most of my work is done early in the morning between 6 and 9am. The usual distraction is just getting my little troll off to school, which isn't that much work. The worst distractions come if I manage to pick up work in the afternoon or evenings... My roommate NEVER.. and I mean NEVER shuts up, my cat spazzes out as if he's consumed a 6pack of jolt in 3 minutes, and my troll is home from school running in and out.. Plus the phone never stops ringing and there's about 5 people an evening beating on the door for one thing or another. Finding a "quiet room" isn't in option in cramped living quarters. When I say cramped I mean... the bedrooms aren't much larger than the beds in them and my other rooms aren't much larger than a prison cell.

Find some place else instead of your home to get your works done, and then come back home....

It is very hard to overcome distractions. I am one of those people who can think of a million things that needs to be done (cleaning, organizing the bills, clipping coupons) etc. while I need to be working. I just have to lock myself in my office and work work work. I try to stay on a schedule and block X amount of time for work specifically. (This is a bit easier because I have a 6 month old and I have someone watching him at a specific time). I always have to remind myself that if the floor does not get swept that the world will not end... but if I don't work the rent will not get paid and I won't have a floor to sweep anyway! Create a schedule and the distractions that could possibly take you away from work, you should remove them from the area. I am terrible for wanting to get on Facebook and play Farmville myself, but I just do not open my FB account while working. I have a phone job so it is easier for me to pull myself away from the attractive things on the internet! I wish you lots of luck!

One of the things that I find that is the most important to overcoming the distractions that I face while I am working at home is that I need to have a relatively quiet time. I will occasionally play some music in the background, but beyond that I really don't need people to be talking to me constantly. It is really the easiest when there is no one else at home but there is no way that I can constantly ensure for that to happen.
