It's mating season at the lake...

I took another nice, long walk to the lake. I saw the usual ducks, geese, coots, seagulls, squirrels, etc. I also saw some wild turkeys and some waterfowl that I didn't recognize (must go look up picture). There was a squirrel in a tree getting nuts out of a pine cone until another squirrel tried to fight him for it. Two ducks were *ahem* doing it. They didn't look like they were having as much fun as people do. lol And on the way back, I saw some male turkeys with their tail feathers up in full display trying, without much success, to attract some females. People really do have more fun. :-) It was the perfect kind of weather to be lying on a blanket under a tree in somebody's arms. My favorite time of year!

Ah Its no wonder the season is labeled as "Spring", and enjoying those signs of life, nature come alive, is just beautiful and medicinal.

Laying on a blanket sounds like so much fun...especially under the stars..while the frogs are chirping their song..and the other insects and birds making theirs as mates calling back and forth to each other..sounds so delightfully..romantic..sighs...I have a hubby..but he doesn't do or wanna do stuff like this...and it breaks my heart..because I wanna do stuff like this..

Wonderful Post Lamb! You made me feel quite *****! In India it isn't the wonderful mating season, on the contrary it is HOT summer here. After May, it will cool down a little and it will be perfect mating season for everyone.. Oh, your post makes me miss my girl so much. She is in US now, we're almost 7 oceans apart- poetically speaking.. It'll be another few months, before we meet. And I can't tolerate it anymore now, after reading your post
Have a wonderful time, Miss!!

Oh, I guess, I couldn't explain it... Sorry for that... My girl is from USA, we met last year, when she had come to India on a tour... Things simply happened for us... We love each other madly and passionately.. I have no idea whether she'll come here, or I'll have to come to USA; one thing is sure (and we have promised) that we'll be married before 2010 ends... I love her the most... Can't live without her. The woman that I always dreamed about...

Oh silly me, thought you were talking about a daughter. But I see you're not old enough to have a daughter in college.
I really hope it works out for you!!!

I don't know, but the 2 ducks doing it reminded me of a joke that I can't repeat here, but I can tell you it involves a farmer, 3 hillbillys, and 3 ducks.....and the punchline mentions ducks and words that rhyme with DUCK...........it's pretty ducked up.

Hi Dawn
I love those kind of walks specially if it is nice and quiet
I think Animals see it as a Task lol it is season time so they have to do it once it is done well they just go of and carry on with their Life lol
The thing is though, it is always the Female that has to keep the aftermath and raise them alone

This year...I am going to enjoy spring more, and summer, and fall as well. I have not gone to a lake to walk, yet. I have this fantasy walk around my town, from one park to another ( several have either fish ponds or lakes) with hubby and just taking the whole day to do it if need be. There are lots of ducks, geese, and swans in our town. I wonder, if you were seeing a loon? I cannot remember where you are and will have to look in a little bit. Meanwhile, have a wonderful walk any time you can grab one.

I was into figure skating before hockey. I still love it. Wasn't the women's final in the Olympics fantastic?

Were the coots old? If so, I hope they weren't *ahem* doing it.

I went and looked them up, I have never seen a coot, not even in a zoo. Wow. Continuing education. Did you take another walk today, too?

Hi dawn,
Isn't so lovely to see all that nature provids? most people would not have noticed all the things you had because they are too busy rushing around all day being materialistic, they forget there is such beauty around them, I am you enjoyed your walk.

I'm envious of the scenery you got there in your side of the world Miss Dawn I wish I could experience watching a scene like that, not the mating scene of course but the peaceful coexistence of animals and people in an area. I've never been to a lake before or if I have I've never seen animals around at all.
I wonder what's the difference between doing it by the lake and under a tree and doing it in the beach? I've read somewhere that doing it on a beach is not that good of an experience for most who have actually done it.
You have seen other animals mate but have you seen how lambs actually do it? I think lambs have fun doing it like people do because I know a lamb who would actually want to do it with people instead of other lambs

That's a nice stroll you had. I hardly go by the lake these days and also most part of has been barricaded for renovation. The free part is full of couples and a few geese who hardly get any attention.

Hi Dawnald, that was a beautiful scenery that you were describing. I wish that I was present at the lake to be able to see all this. Malta is a small island surrounded by sea and though its a lovely island we lack lakes and wild life. I have only seen squirrels when I was in England. We lack wild life here and I am an animal lover. Hmm regarding animal doing it, if it was for that we would not have little ducklings and animals would stop reproduce. Regarding being in somebody's arms that would be lovely, a blanket, a packed lunch, a book and then who knows what might happen. I bet you would have lots of peeping squirrels and ducks...Beware of pelicans, they are famous for attacking back with their peaks.

Hi, dawnald. It is lovely to see the animals coming together during the spring time! That is what makes this season so special. The weather is beautiful and it is very nice to go outside and enjoy the warm sun and light breeze. I love to see the bright flowers and vivacious trees that are blooming. Enjoy your weekend.

I have this white dove - he is lame, and he is always chasing some gray ones. :) It is fun watching the dark colored bird increasing the speed and this one swelling at its neck, making those sounds. :) It is summer already out here. So I guess, we dont get as much of spring as you all do. Nevertheless, our summers are colorful as well - with flowers blooming everywhere. Next time I will load a picture. Need to take it early in the morning. :)
