Just starting out on myLot and needing help

I hope you get lots of advice on this. I have been here for about three and a half or four years. My biggest thing at first was that I started discussions that did not get answered. I was given some advice in my early weeks to pick lots of interesting people and add them as friends. When I did that, I got their discussions, and was more able to find discussions that interested me. I am really fortunate, I think I have some of the best friends on MyLot. You can also try searching for discussions with the MyLot search bar, and put in a subject that you might like. When you do find a discussion that you like, look at the bottom or side of your screen, sometimes there are similar discussions that you will also like to answer.

It wasn't so hard finding interesting discussions for me as it was getting to know people. But I'm glad I hung in there. I made lots of real friends here...

Hi there! Yes, I definitely remember Twoey introducing you to all of us. It is very tricky to start on MyLot at first because you have to get so many points for instance before you can copy and paste, use emoticons, etc., but you will figure it out! If you would, you are more than welcome to check out some of my discussions and see if they interest you. You could also fine-tune your interests so that MyLot can search discussions that will appeal to you. If you don't mind my asking, what kind of discussions do you like? Do you prefer personal experiences where people are asking for opinions? What types of things interest you? What kinds of things do you enjoy? The possibilities here on MyLot are endless, but you just have to get into the swing of things. It's wonderful you already have a friend here - Twoey. Once you meet more people, you will find those who start discussions on topics that interest you. It is definitely difficult starting out, but I am confident that you will figure it out quickly. You will grow to love this place! I wish you the best.

hi mimama5 do not be so darned choosy there is a lot of great discussions here to day but you must browse to see them all , hit the different tabs and read all the discussions. somtimes new people will turn down hundreds of good discussions as they did not read far enough into the discussion to see that it would interest them. I am older so have a lot of interests but you will find good discussions if you just dig a bit.. by the by did you read all the great information in the TOs and the questions and answers, and guidelines and the rules its all there to help answer all your questions and help you make quality discussions and just have fun here, make friends and really enjoy mylotting. go to twoey she is so great and she will not steer you wrong,she is also my friend here and love her discussions too. good luck God bless and welcome to mylot hugs.

It is a bit hard when you're starting, but it usually takes a while to really get into it. you have invest time to actually go through the discussions and try to answer most of them for you to increase your number of posts. you can do it.

Hi mimama, I think most of us here feel the same thing as what you feel right now when we just started, not only here at myLot but also at any other site. We need to get familiarize with the site before we could do something comfortably. There are a lot of interest here and you can go to the "my interest" section to look for any discussion that might good for you. You can also look at your friend discussions by looking at the "friends started" tab. Even though we could not give our response to each and every discussion but I believe there must be a discussion that we could response to. If you can not find one, then you could start one just like this. Just talk about anything that happen around you or any interest that you has. Maybe someone else here share the same interest as yours. Good luck....

Just go thru new discutions only way then get more friends then all ya have to do is respond to them you will soon get the nack of it GK

Hi hun, I used to always check out the discussions started by my friends first. Then I check out my interests, there are usually some discussions of interest there which you can respond to. I like to try and help out new users too, many of my MyLot friends helped me out that way way back when I joined

When I first started out I just went to the new discussions page and started answering everything that I could. Since the idea here is to make some money I am certain I answered things that didn't really interest me greatly but I was making points and making some cents. Also going through each of your friends discussions every day and answering those might help. It certainly will help your friends to have comments If there is nothing going on in the discussions that truly interest you perhaps you could start a few discussions about things that do interest you and go from there

I am at a stage now where I have quite a few good friends that I have got to know during my time here so I have no trouble responding to most of their discussions as they come through my inbox. Sometimes I will have a little ‘surf’ around and find good topics otherwise I check out my interests or type something in the search bar that I may have an interest in. I think that, as you get to know people, you find plenty to talk about! Have fun!

Hi, there. I just became active here for almost two months. I guess you need to browse all the interests here in myLot. Add all interests which attract your attention. The more interests you have, the more discussions you can posts. Think of your life experiences, questions that you would like to ask, etc. Look how other myLotters compose their discussions. Just be confident in making your own discussions. Mylotters here are all friendly. Start writing more discussions now. This is a good one to start. :)

when I first started her I think I had some trouble in starting a disscuson. what i did was to look at other disscussion from myloters and follow what they were doing. style my disscuions afer theirs and add my own toughts and ideas. I slected from the mylot intrest I listed for myself and went form there. latter on I stated some disscion on my own. I got ideas form magizines articaels, internet artices and news stories. I also would start disscusions from personal experences like many myloters do.

I also had this problem when i started.But as i started with viewing my friend's profile i found some matchable interests.Started to add them to my interests lists and began discussions.Thanks for sharing.Good luck.

It is difficult, when you're just starting out, but don't worry, it will get easier. It helps if you find 'friends' who have decent questions on here, or provide decent answers. Once you've got a few 'friends', you need to make sure you've got them all set, so that MyLot sends you an e-mail, every time someone posts something. (I can't remember how to do that, sorry). I hope you manage to find your feet soon. :)

Hello mimama5, I remember the discussion where your friend twoey introduced you. I have been at Mylot for quite a few years now and I can still remember how difficult it was when I first enrolled. There were far less members then but it was still a maze as far as finding an appropriate discussion was concerned, so it must be worse now for a new member. The site becomes much easier to navigate as time passes because you will gradually find topics of interest which will help to find appropriate posts. I also find it helpful to check the Profile page of a potential friend to see if they have similar interests because if you simply add all friends then the ones who make the posts that interest you will be lost among the rest. Basically, do not be in any great hurry to make headway, Mylot will become easier and more fun as you progress.

Do you have your friend's notifications on? Most of the discussions I do, are from my friends. I feel like I owe it to them to look at their discussions first. You are on my friend list, so I get your discussions in my inbox. When I do my friend's discussions, I really never run out of discussions to respond to. You might add some more friends if you don't have that many. I did have trouble when I first started. Then I added more friends. Because some of them respond to my own, I also feel it is only right to respond to theirs too. I'll never make a whole lot here, but the pennies do add up eventually.

Just give it time like everything else in life you have to learn the likes and dislikes about it. If you would just look around at different people's profiles you would see who you like and dislike on their conversations. You find out about their like's and dislike's. Then, you make them friends if you have things in common. The more friends the more discussions. Then, you can also talk about thinks that are on your mind each day. The is something to discuss. Try that and give it time. You might like it but then again some ppl just don't like it. *Peace and Love get's you through everything in Life*

hi mimama, It sometimes happen to me as well. Here is what I do everytime that I cannot start a discussion here. I search for another discussion of other mylotters. As well as I know the answer and I know I can give a quality answer, I give it. We do not earn her just by starting our own discussion but also in participating to other discussion. Sometimes, through answering the questions of other mylotters, it gives me opportunities to get an idea of what to ask.We can earn not only on participating and starting a discussion here. We can also earn if we refer some people to join mylot. But that one is quite difficult. I referred many people here but they are not active.But anyway, there is no harm in trying to get some people here under your name. One good way also is do the some task here. Although, I am not doing it yet but I know you can earn on that.One thing I did this past few days is to use the search button in mylot. And I am so happy that I got a mylot reward. Once you get a mylot reward, your earnings will increases. I also think that uploading photos or submitting your blogs here will do a great help in increasing your earnings. Well, I forgot, above all, you must do everything here with enthusiasm. :)

I am new here myself mimama5, this is my first day here on mylot. :) But my niece is giving me assistance and briefing me of the things I have to learn here. One of them is using Mylot Search Engine to search for topics that interest me. She also told me to list down my favorite topics to talk about and Search them. She also said about getting a reward upon using Search function. Have you tried using Search Engine and typing keywords of topics that Interest you? Keep cool. Have a great day. :)
