Television really comes up with all sorts of media hype to get the attention of the viewers. And reality tv seems to be the craze of the new millenium. One show that captured my attention is called The Bachelor. I surmised that finding a life partner had become terribly difficult in this day and age that those who can afford employ the help of others to find their true love. And so I did get to see some episodes about the dashing bachelors and the shrieking bachelorette contenders for romance. I was surprised to see though that the show asked viewers who they think was the better bachelor, an Italian prince from New York or an officer and a gentleman from Hawaii? I am a fairytale believer but except for Sleeping Beauty's prince, the others didn't seem to be much of character. So I'd take the officer and a gentleman. It would be nice to be lifted up where we could belong. Who would you choose?

Isnt' that show the pits! I mean come on...is it like 30 days they have all together for the guy to decide who of 25 girls he wants to marry? Can you actually find that kind of love and commitment in only 30 days? And that isn't 30 days with each one.. that is 30 days divided between many, then several and a couple. We are talking about a few hours with a woman to decide if you want to marry her. And on the women's side...they spend a few hours with a man that is spending hours with other women right in front of you and comparing you to them so he can choose between you both... with only a couple hours knowledge and often not on a single basis, but often with multiple women on a date.
And I am sorry, but I just can't believe these guys with all their money and status have such a hard time finding a girl they want to marry. Plus...why are the girls ALWAYS the most gorgous, perfect body women that he "gets" to choose from? Is that just saying that since he is so cute, he only wants cute girls? Or that the producters don't think a less than pretty girl - you know the ones that have their beauty on the inside - are what the bachelor wants to choose from or that (most likely) the viewers would not watch if there were not so pretty girls on the cat walk?
I dont watch it as is is just degrading, disgusting and a mockery of love and marriage. After what...10 seasons and not a single marrige among the bachelors...until just now.. one did recently wed. So obviously it doesn't 'work".
I dont' like the show!

Hi coffee, there are so many issues there but I am not an afficionado of the show. I just watch bits and pieces that sometimes are amusing - like, for example, a tour of Hawaii where the officer/bachelor resides. The WWII site of the December 7 attack of the Japanese was now a historical place where tourists come to visit and pay their respects to the memory of those who perished in a senseless act of betrayal. Ain't that interesting? And it makes you feel that there are still gentlemen in the world who would keep those memories alive. The show has its good points, too. But I am asking if you would choose a prince or an officer?
