So whats a dog breed, based on your knowledge, that you wouldn't allow to be around your children or you don't believe is good with children? Whats a dog breed that you believe shouldn't be around children at all?

Based on my knowledge, rottweiler would definitely be one. I think in the right hands these dogs are safe, but there are so many people who have these and make them dangerous. I don't think any dog is naturally nasty, but due to hunting instincts of some dogs, I dont think they should be around children. Children run, dogs chase.

Well i think pitbull should not be allowed to roam around the house together with the children, if you can't avoid having one let the dog inside his own house and make sure that it is properly locked. There's some cases reported that this breed of dog has a temperamental mind. I have one before and his name was Evolution, we kept him in his cage because I have a 1year old daughter then. Time and again, my husband take him for a walk everyday but after that, he will put the dog back into his cage again, its better to be safe than sorry we're talking about the safety of our children here.

Well the dogs I refused to get because I had kids were Pitbulls, Rotties (though I LOVE THEM) and Dobermans....all of them can be very tempermental and with a child you just never really know if he/she will set the dog off ya know...
as for dog breeds that should NEVER be around children..well there really is no set answer for that..I mean take my dogs for example - they are Chow/Lab mix (my female) and Chow/Shepard mix (my male) and they are very good around ppl BUT my male dog has his moments when a kid or teen will be around and either they startle him OR he straight up doesnt like them (rare but i can thnk of a kid or two he just DOES NOT LIKE)...He's growled, barked and even snapped at one of them...Is he not safe to have around children?? NOT AT ALL..Reggie is a very good dog but if he doesnt like you, he doest want you in his space and if you continue to bug him (as this one kid did) he'll let you know...

When my miniature poodle called Secret was a puppy I took him to training classes at the vet. One of the ladies had a rottweiler puppy. I knew her because she lived in the same village that I used to. Two months later I found out she was pregnant. She had a baby boy and a dog that aggressive. That breed of dog is like a guard dog. They are often not good around children. I moved to where I live one year later so I wonder how that lady, her dog and her little boy are getting on. Dog training is very important. I have two miniature poodles called Secret and Magic. I also have a baby daughter and a disabled toddler son. My dogs are gentle around my children and other people's children.

I have felt scared when dogs are around children, but many people have proved me wrong. It is questionable though as to what breed is best. I have seen: german shephers, Bull dogs, Golden Retriever. I actually remember having a german shepher around me when I was a little boy and remember that dog being my best friend, and protector.

I wouldn't recommend a great dane around children cuz that type of dog is huge. It might cause injuries to children if the dog plays with them.
