Hi everyone! Why do you think people are so rude to telemarketers? These people are just doing their job and they constanly have to deal with getting cussed out and hung up on. I feel that people should be alot nicer to telemarketers. What are your views?

I think people just get tired of their phone ringing or someone always trying to sell them something. I can't stand to have telemarketers to call me plus they call on weekends too either when you are busy or sleeping, i once had one call at 11:00 at night, I'm not sure, but it was kinda rude.

I do agree! Any call after 7pm is quite rude

probably cause some of them are pushy, and some will keep ringing the phone until someone picks up,which is way annoying. i usually try to be nice, because i know it can be a crappy job. but if they don't take no for an answer,or actually just the fact that i'm on the no call list and they called anyway, might get a hang up from me. some have called later than the law allows and woke up my mom too.

I don't get much telemarketing calls, and I don't cuss them. In my opinion, people are getting used to being rude to these people; some even consider it their right! Of course these people are doing there job. Something I won't opt for, coz getting mistreated is the part of this job whether you accept it or not..

I was a telemarketer. If you tell anyone what you do for a living, you instantly get those looks. "Oh, so you're the one that interrupted my din din last night, huh?" Someone had the nerve to ask me why I didn't go to college so I didn't have to disturb their dinner. I told him he could send me an anonymous donation to further my studies. One guy used the "F" word because I called him on a Sunday and that was the "Lord's Day." I told the man he must be very "religious" and hung up.

I don't think they mean to be they just get annoyed and forget their manners. I used to be a telemarketer-it's a hard business and when you get paid on commission-even harder. I haven't been getting any telesales calls these days but when I did I was polite, I'd listen for a bit then say I'm sorry I'm not interested. I had one guy once though that kept on with the "rebottles" or however that's spelled and I finally lost my cool yelled and hung up on him...he just wouldn't take no for an answer

I usually tell them that they shouldn't have phoned me in the first place as both my phone numbers are on the list for people who don't want to receive phone calls from telemarketers. If they can't be bothered to check the lists then I've got inclination of being polite. Some try the "but you have to renew it every third month!" Which is halfway wrong, it has to be renewed every third month, but its they who have to update their lists, not me who has to sign up on it.

Why should people be nice to telemarketers if they call you on the most unchristian times ever. During dinner, early in the morning. And mostly they want you to buy some stuff with a recurring bill attached to it, which wasn't mentioned in the call. If they want to be treated with more respect they shouldn't have chosen a job in which they are mostly treated disrespectfully? It's the same like being doctor but being unable to stand the sight of blood?
