It was announced on the news tonight that there is a new virus circulating on Twitter & Facebook. You receive a message from a friend asking you to go to a website. When you get there it asks you to download a program in order to see what you came to see. BACK OFF QUICKLY as it is spyware that will infect your computer & then send messages from you to your friends with a similar message & so it continues.

There been a LOT of viruses going around via Facebook. I keep checking the Facebook Security page and they will often post new viruses alerts lurking about

I knew you'd be first as you've been having a lot of problems with a similar scam lately. I was not shocked to hear there are viruses floating around on both sites. I have just STOPPED opening sites even from people I know especially if it is out of character for that friend. If I ever receive an email that says you're stranded & need money to get home, you'll be stuck where you are!!!
I don't do Facebook for just this reason. I do have a Twitter account, but I've almost stopped using it. I just never got the Twitter fever. I'd MUCH rather spend my time here on myLot!!!

So that's what's been going on. I might as well pass this message around to my FB friends. I usually don't proceed when something quirky is going on like instead of finding a message, there's another link that leads to a game or something. So I cancel it. Thank you for the warning.

Am a little late responding to this discussion but did hear this on the news. Am not a member of either site. Gave Facebook some serious thought this morning but that soon passed...lol I'd get lost on there forever and would never accomplish anything else on the computer. Our kids have their settings to private just as a precaution. Like that idea so pictures of our grandkids aren't plastered all over the internet. That makes me a little nervous.

I've never wanted to join Facebook. I joined Twitter, but seldom visit there. I never found the magic of Twitter!!! 
I'm finding there are waaay toooo many azzholes at most of the sites that try to ruin everybody's fun.

i recently know about it,virus circulating on twitter & facebook.now i can keep my account from virus attack,this is very useful information.but honestly i seldom visting twitter or facebook,most i visiting mylot and kaskus.

Thank you Marissa for informing.....I have accounts both in twitter and facebook..But I use twitter very rarely.I use facebook daily...from mow onwards I will be careful.Thanks again...I will inform my friends too..

Unless I misunderstood, Facebook is more dangerous than Twitter at this time!!! I'm sure your friends will thank you for helping them!!!

i don't have a account in twitter but i don't want to create, then i have facebook account but so far there's no link sites sending to me, but thanks i will avoid that

I believe that Facebook has the largest problem with this virus so be very careful there!!!

i don't know how exactly i would react on this. maybe it just came late or i have just never had the chance to see this one before i receive an invitation to see a video of what they said, scandal of the president. i thought i can trust it since it is within facebook. it says that i have to upgrade the FLV player and so i did. but after installation, it keeps coming back to that portion of telling me to install, again, the said program. and what happened, i see a lot of wall posts with the same wall post i received, the invitation to see the video. disgusting. i think this is the one you are trying to tell as virus?

I never download programs when someone on the Internet tells me to unless I really need to, so I think I will be safe from this virus. But thanks for the information. I'm sure that this will help many mylotters.

I have a Twitter account, but I seldom use it. I don't do Facebook at all. I just like to warn as many people as possible when there is a current threat so hopefully NOBODY gets zapped by it!!! If I can help to save 1 computer, then my job is done here!!!

Thanks for sharing this important information with all of us.. but i think sometimes in many social networking sites.. the virus attacks .. and destroy some information.. so now i ma careful about this..
