I saw this article today: http://www.mylot.com/w/newsarticle/24374722.aspx And it kind of made me sick. This is just one of many people that are well liked leaders in their religious community that are taking advantage of the people around them. I know this isn't only in religious institutions, but it just seems within the past few years that more and more people making the news for things like this are really active in their religious community and held in high esteem. It's even been portrayed in pop culture... such as the preacher/serial killer that was on 'Dexter.' What are your thoughts on this? Why has it been so much more reported upon in the last few years? How/Why do you think these people get into the positions that they do?

I by no means support r@pe of any kind or murder. However, I have known a few people to go into the military and they come back home a different person. It takes a toll on their mind. You must realize what they go through. They get belittled and stripped of all emotions and become killing machines for the Government and Country. I am not defending his actions, but think about the battle in his mind. He probably turned to Christianity, to be forgiven for what he had done. Maybe even to get help from "God" to forget what he seen and went through. I have noticed more and more stuff like this. I believe its because all these so called "Christians" read the Bible. The bible says we are all sinners, confess your sins, believe in Jesus, repent, and all will be forgiven. I don't think that means go on a killing spree people! I think the guy started out with good intentions. He probably was trying to better his life and way of living, and just snapped. My sincere apologies go out to his family, and I hope the kids can recover the best they can and live a full life. I'm not a "Christian" and I'm sorry if I offended any but these are my thoughts on this situation.
