Yes I can write and understand English but if its my turn to speak in English, i feel very nervous. i don't know what will i say if somebody talk to me in English. my native language is Tagalog and i often uses it. but now that i want to find another job its hard for me to attend in the interview, since English is most common language uses during interview. i think i am not competent if i cannot speak fluently in English so i decided to enroll in an English class.I was hoping that after few weeks of studying, i will develop my communication skills using English language.

hello nice,
that's very simple. attend call center training provided by tesda, i think Eperformax has a call center training that is free and acredited by tesda, they're available now, just send your resume online and apply there once they called you.
No, it's never easy unless you're family had been inclined to speak English. as for me, i took more than five different trainings in the call center but being out of the job for more than three years makes me even doubt if i can speak that good again.

you know, no one in my family speak in English because they don't finish their study. My sister is only up to second year highschool, and my father is only elementary graduate, my mother don't even finish grade 3. therefore i dont speak english at home. and even in the place where i'm working. I dont talk most of the time.
I enrolled in an english class for 60 hrs.My schedule is 2 hrs per day and i was hoping that after hoping that it will help me to build my confidence in speaking english.

Just speak in simple English.I am not really good in verbal...I am most of the time running out of words when I speak English...During my interview before I just delivered it simply for the interviewer to understand immediately, I don't use flowering words so not to prolong the interview. If they'd call me to report then it simply mean they understood me.

Here in my current job, there are some foreigner visit in the office. and you know what i always do, i always refer them to the other Admin assistant which they really supposed to talk... but when its really me who they need to talk, its hard for me...

i agree you there.
but if you're going to work in a call center, you gotta start the training for English proficiency, but speaking in basic is alright. you practice and probably watch English speaking movies and see how they talk and check which one is proper way to see watch people having conversation in english.that's the start.

Nice,
Here in myLot your English can be honed and there are more venues now in the web where you can really learn how to communicate foreigners well in English. Here in the web I learned a lot everyday and I am more confident now to talk to my Big Bosses or to other foreign nationals. And writing blogs is the other venue too where you can also hone your desire to learn to speak English not necessarily fluent but can easily communicate with the foreign nationals that they can understand what you are telling them.
For us Filipino, we really need to upgrade ourselves in order for us to compete in the global market. Take time to open a tab for dictionary then type words that you think are useful in your day to day conversation with your clients.
And also start to get out from your shell and mingle with other person, that's one thing also for you to learn good verbal communication. Well, good luck to us!:)

Yeah, I think I agree with you so much. No matter how better our writing are, We still should try our best to communitae with others. If other words, we must speak the English well which can be inderstood welll by others. In my opinion, just practise more. Pracrice makes perfect.

We shared the sentiment. I can also write English well, but when its my turn to speak I'm always running out of words, I feel nervous and stutter. This is not my only problem, I also can't understand their accent. When I'm watching English Movies, I always put subtitles because I can't understand what the actors were saying. While when I'm reading, I understand well.

To speak and write English fluently is one thing that I really dream in life. Like you, I can write English but not to speak with. I feel nervous talking with it for fear that I may not say the proper words or the correct sentence and people will just laugh at me. But anyways, I am still thankful that at least, I can write in English and just hoping that in anyways, I will try to practice speaking the language.

I am not very fluent in spoken English too. Many a times, I find myself unable to utter a complete English sentence when I have to, although I know what I wanted to say in my mind. So, I have been actively listening to English radio stations, especially the news broadcasts, and try to repeat what I heard in my mind. Also, English movies with subtitles are good for me to learn spoken English too. Anyway, I think the key is to listen more, and practice more.

hi nice,
english like any other languages if not used, you will loose it too. myLot is a great place to start with. have a dictionary close by or a translation page if you would like. have your responses heard and read, test your reasoning skills, make friends here and earn some income. you'll love it besides improving your english.

yes that's right, i remember when i was young i am not good i English, but its is OK to me because i thought to myself that i am here in the Philippines, my native language is what i need. but now i saw how important to learn it...
I cannot practice it everyday because i have no one to talk to. even here in the office, there is only once in a blue moon that some foreigner residents visit me there to ask question with their bill. in our house too. no one speak in English there.

Hi there fellow Pinay. I see that we have the same problem. I also have some difficulty speaking English although I am using it in my job. I am more into written English and I usually stutter and run out of words when speaking English. Sometimes I have to translate my thoughts into Tagalog then translate it in English in my mind. I think enrolling in an English class or Speech Power can enhance your oral skills. You can also try reading out loud and practice the intonations and right pronunciation. You can also read/watch English movies to enhance your vocabulary. I hope this helps. Happy mylotting!

hi nice!
we have the same situation, i am not a bookish person, haven't read a novel during my highschool and elementary days, aside from my studies i watch local tv station only. that is why i regret what i did before. i am a fresh graduate and looking for a job, it is really difficult to find a job, since you will have to face interviews first. that is why, what i had been doing is listen to radio stations that have dj that speaks in english, watch foreign movies with subtitles, read novels and even english books, practice to speak in english at home, write in english, and even think in english... so that what i have been doing, just to improve my communication skills.
good luck to both of us.

I also feel nervous at times but being a teacher doesnt allow me to be nervous when its my turn to talk cause I often do the talking like most of the time. I also had stage frights before but you can always over come it by practice. There are so many ways for you to practice like for example, speaking in English with the members of your family. And dont be afraid to make mistakes when you are saying something in English and always try to be conscious about the things that you will say so you can also correct yourself.
