What is the Emo hairstyle exactly?

I ran into some composition desribed some sort of haircut named Emo,and it's quite good to kids......
I just cannt understand,anyone knows??

I uploaded some pictures, can't figure out how to put them up here... but it's an offshoot from punk, so you can see a lot of similarities. But, emo hair tends to be more "polished" than punk hair with the styling.
Similar disconnected-type hair styles, a lot of unnatural colors.
