What is the best way to put DVD movie on your iPod Touch?

If I own a movie on DVD how can I take it and put it on my iPod Touch? I have tried a few different things and none of them have worked. I would like to know the fastest/easiest way using only free converters/rippers. Thank you for anything that you can give me.

i have a great converter named "Any Video Converter"., its completely free and has a dedicated option for ipod. its a great converter. make sure the bitrates are high or just enough to create a good sound and video quality. I used any converter everytime i make video presentations and reports. Really useful.
