Have you ever watched one of those pharmaceutical ads that when they start with the list of side effects that makes the cure sound worse than the disease? Well that is what the Transport Security Administration, TSA for short is. The TSA is to protect us from those people who believe that their God has told them to blow themselves up and a lot of other people. After 9/11 the TSA took over the security of all airports. Then when some guy was told by his God to put explosives in his shoes, we all had to start taking our shoes off when going through a checkpoint. Then we have the guy who was told by his God to put explosive in his underwear, now we all have to walk through these I can see through your clothes machines. These are the side effects to protect our friendly skies, yet what happens when the side effects are worse than the possibility of being on an airplane with a terrorist.
Ryan Thomas was taking his first fight with his family to celebrate his fourth birthday at Disney World. Ryan suffers from malformed ankles and legs that have low muscle tone due to being born 16 week premature. Ryan has just started walking and needs braces. Those braces are made out of metal, and I bet you can figure out what happen when he went through the metal detector. The TSA screener told the family that the braces would need to be removed. Like I said Ryan cannot walk without his braces, but when it comes to the TSA screener they just do not care.

Are you kidding...If I was going to blow up a plane a kid would be the first place I'd hide the explosives. Why blow myself up when I could send some little goofball that would do whatever I wanted for a little candy no questions asked.
The screeners were stupid. They could have simply looked over the braces & let him go. Someone just wanted to prove how big a jerk they could be.

Though this seems to be a good initiative one should know to differentioate between when it can be applied and when not to. On the above scenario they should know when and who should be exempted.Sometimes they take things too far in the name of security. One at times have to feel for them too. In case a mishap occurs they will be the ones to blame for being negligent.

The Thomases were dumbfounded. "I told them he can't walk without them on his own," Bob Thomas said.
"He said, 'He'll need to take them off.' "
Ryan's mother offered to walk him through the detector after they removed the braces, which are custom-made of metal and hardened plastic.
No, the screener replied. The boy had to walk on his own.
wow I think the parents handled that VERY well. I understand the need for security and I also understand that terrorists would strap bombs to their kids. But why not just let the mother bring him through. Hes 4 years old for crying out loud! The private screening area is exactly how they should have handled it from the start. What idiots.
That was kind like the runs and bleeding through the ears (side effects)

Our "security" system is so idiotic. We continue to react to what those crazies do instead of taking proactive measures to keep everyone safe from them. They harass a little kid like Ryan and the old grannies while letting the exact demographic of the typical terrorist go right through without further examination. It's insane.

Another one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. But then again, the 4-year-old could have had explosives loaded in them there braces. Next thing we'll be taking off is braces, to include those on one's teeth. I've stopped flying...I drive everywhere I want to go...no matter how far it is.

The clowns this family were forced to deal with definitely lacked good judgement and common sense. I'm glad the father continued to speak out against this and finally received satisfaction from the TSA. I think everyone involved should be fired.
Flying definitely has become a hassle. My youngest flies up north & back every year and we bring some of the grandkids down here by plane when their parents can't take off during the summer. As time consuming as it is, I would much rather know that my loved ones are as safe as they can possibly be while they're in the air. It's not like you have anywhere safe to run to if a bomb goes off.
