I'd like o ask, where can we find those emoticons? I want also to use emoticons in my posts but I don't know where to find them. Help please. Using real colorful emoticons is better than just typing it. It will prevent misinterpretation. I admit, I also misinterpreted it. I thought you're talking about Windows xD. :)

Yep, it's an emoticon. The way it was explained to me, the X is because the person is crossing their eyes or making a weird face (kinda like the 'doh' emoticon here), and the D is a big toothy grin.

Well, I recognized the toothy grin or big smile part. I thought the x was because they were smiling so big they had crinkles at the corners of their eyes. Isn't :P someone sticking out their tongue? Will someone please publish a pictionary for these cuties?

Aw, thank you! I belong to some communities on LiveJournal, and a parenting site called Minti. That's really about it. I did have another account here, though. I wanted to change my username, so I canceled it a few days ago and made this one.

I always think of it as a pictogram.
The X part is a persons eyes ,shut with laughter and the D part is a big wide grin.
I like emoticons,they are so creative .

xD means that big big smile. Like when you smile or laugh.
Is like a person squeezing the eyes and giving a big smile.

A smiley is when you use text to create a digital face to add an emotion or just to accent your message. When I say accent I mean to give extra meaning to the message, not a foreign voice :).
In a common smiley like this: :) , The colon signifies two eyes, and the bracket is the mouth.
If transferred to the smiley you'd like to know about, the x are the eyes (I also took a while to see what they're supposed to be) and the D provides the mouth, giving an overall funny, laughing face: xD.
Truly a masterpiece of the internet.
