i think my computer got hacked

Well I was playing this game, modern warfare 2, online then suddenly a white box appeared closing my game. On the white box appeared my nickname, that i use a lot online, and my general password. I tried closing the box but it wouldn't close.. I then turned off my pc and went into safemode, scanned for viruses, nothing came out. So i decided to reformat my hard drive. just want to know if it was worth losing all my precious files reformatting.

Try another antivirus software,and then change your password.If there's nothing appeared,maybe you should reinstall your game after saving your game data.

I have used McAfee for 3 years now and I'm not going to stop using it. Thanks for the advise though.

you better change your password instant (after making sure your pc is clean from malware and trojans) if you suspect that your were hacked. reformatting wont change the fact (assuming) that your account was compromised.
