INATTENTION because of TEXTING

It's inevitable that talking to a friend gets disrupted by receiving SMS messages. I, too, am experiencing this situation. When my friend is talking about something,I become inattentive when someone would text me. I become more focused to texting rather than listening to what he/she is saying. I never realized how insulting it was when it was our places switched; when I'm the talker and he/she is the listener. I find it insulting when my friend would be inattentive to what I was/am saying. Do you feel the same way too?
And as a lesson, I would try to lessen my texting while listening to my friend.
Have a nice day!

Most of the time when I have a conversation via text message I'm usually by myself. And when I'm not I do tend to pay attention to my phone. My partner doesn't seem to mind though. He always says he'll always be around, but whoever I'm talking to won't. Or, something like that.

What do you mean by, "he always say's he'll be around but whoever I'm talking to WON'T?" I'm kinda confused.

I have no idea. George is strange when he talks. A majority of our conversations happen when he's drunk so I've learned not to take a lot of what he says to seeriously.
But, I think he means, that texting will only take a few seconds/minutes out of my life, but we still have the rest of our lives for what ever.

The very nice thing about texts are that the messages are saved on your phone and you can access it whenever you want.
The very bad thing about talking to people is that they're not always there, there's no recording or backing up on a history log or anything like that.
With me, I just save my texts for later. I reach into my pocket, take a quick look and handle my text business later. If it's urgent, then it's urgent but if it isn't, I have people who want my attention and my attention I will give, especially if they're physically there.

I totally agree with you mogtendo. We'll just take a look at the messages and not really divert our attention to it unless if it's urgent.hehe.
Happy mylotting!

hi gambamarcela yes we can really realize how we have insulted someone else when it is done to us, so it gives us a bit of a lesson to do one thing at a time, and finish your conversation with your friend first then pick up your sms messages.personally I gave up trying to do so many things at a time as it gets confusing to say the least. good luck God bless.

Yes, it is definitely a great insult on the part of your friend to whom you are having a nice conversations and yet you became inattentive to him because you are busy reading and texting with your phone. I have a friend who excuses himself first if he is busy with his phone...

Your friend has manners aabuda. I only excuse myself when I need to answer a call.LOL. But I'll try my best to do same when I receive SMS messages.hehe.

i experienced and did that. until now, i admit that i'm still experiencing and doing the same thing. whenever my cellphone sounds, ring/message alert, my attention turns to the phone and not to the person that i am talking to. my friends do the same thing too. we always forgot to say "excuse" for not paying attention.=(, lesson/advise: turn off/mute the cellphone when you are talking to someone so you won't get distracted.=)

Yeah. That's a manner we need to practise more often since we are using phones all the time.
Happy mylotting then!

Oooh! That happens to me a lot. When someone talks to me, I usually just nod or say yes without actually understanding what the person who's talking to me is saying. But now, I try to lessen it as well, cause people are starting to get angry.

Yeah, I feel the same way too. If I received a text message while in the middle of a conversation, I will check it later after me and my friend talk, because before, I often had friends who texts a lot while we were talking, and I feel insulted too. I feel like I don't want to talk anymore. If I ever experience that again, I'm gonna leave her. LOL.
