I read more graphic novels than anything else, but I do like the novels of Orson Scott Card, and I am revisiting some classics, like Catcher in the Rye etc. Oh yes, I liked Lord of the Flies as well. And yes, the Harry Potter series was one I couldn't put down.
I have a complete collection of Edgar Allen Poe and Charles Dickens waiting for me to re-review.
There is only one manga I really like, Hikaru No Go I don't like having to wait three months between volumes, but oh well.
As for the graphic novels, I get the independent ones, not from Marvel or DC, but on occasion I see one from Vertigo or Dark Horse that piques my interest.

Wow, you read a lot of books! I've never heard of most of the books you've mentioned but yes, Harry Potter was definitely one of my favourites. When I was in primary school, I especially liked the Ranger's Apprentice series but now, reading them over and over again, I don't have the patience to wait for the next one to be realeased.
As for Hikaru No Go, I looked at it online and it looks really interesting. I've read many mangas but this one really looked worth reading.

The last time I read a nonfiction book was probably 2 years ago! I never really like reading them but there was a few that were considerably interesting to me.

I can not read comics...I just can't! lol
I love to read novels though! I have TONS. There are about 20 I still need to read (not letting myself buy any more new books until I finish them!) And I also have a ton that I've read and need to sell!!! Then there are the books that I've read and have decided to keep because I loved them so much and might want to read them again some day.

How many books do you own altogether? I have around 70 but I've read majority of them and 5 of them just don't interest me. Some of the books that I enjoyed the most in my collection are The Inheritance Cycle, Ranger's Apprentice, Ring and Harry Potter.

I had many comics when I was younger, but now I usually prefer to read novels. I love reading and I often visit the library. Sometimes I buy some books, but most of the time I choose to borrow some novels at the library, otherwise it would get too expensive. I also love travelling and when I visit another country I often buy some comics in the local language. When I don't understand the language, I can't buy a novel, but if I buy a comic I can at least look at the pictures, and sometimes if I learn a few words that way.

I tried learning Japanese from raw mangas but I failed miserably. Maybe its because there are 3 scripts in the language, or maybe I'm just a slow learner. I tried reading a raw manga but even by just looking at the pictures, I had no idea what was going on.

For me, I prefer reading novels... The story is much detailed compared to comics...
Although, comics has illustrations or drawings but still, it is much better if you let yourself use your imagination...

i used to read comic books. but when i was 14 i started to read mangas and i stopped reading comic books. but now i have started to read graphic novels again.. just to catch up with the 'best sellers' that i never read.
i think mangas doesn't necessarily are drawn better. they have a very different style and techniques compared to western comic books and graphic novels. and it is just a matter of preference which style a person likes better.

In my opinion, western comic books look rather messy, but I guess you are correct. Mangas are more cartoon-ish but western comics are more realistic.

I like novels. I can't stand reading graphic novels, comics, or manga. I much prefer to have only the words out in front of me. Graphic novels usually have pretty pictures and all, but I don't read for pretty pictures. I read for great stories. I've tried reading a few mangas, but they're either too much like a soap opera or too much like some other manga for me to enjoy them.
