Favorite board game and why?

Many people's favorite board game is Monopoly, probably because it's multi-player
and anything can happen. Fortunes are won and lost in that game. People also enjoy the game Life, because again anything can happen in Life, as in become rich and famous or live life as a salesman.
My absolute favorite board game is Chess, because of the intricacies of the game and strategy that is involved in playing it. Some people believe that chess measures intelligence. I just believe that people who are really good at anything practice more, it does not necessarily take a a higher degree of intelligence to be successful in the game.
My roommates and I used to have board game night and we would all get together once a week and play board games ranging from the obscure to Cranium and Taboo.
Chess,Checkers, Backgammon, Operation, Battleship, Guess Who? etc. What is your favorite board game?

My favorite board games are Scrabble and Monopoly. Scrabble enhances my vocabulary a lot, but sadly I can't win on that game especially when I'm playing with my sister and mother. Monopoly is our all time favorite board game. It is fun buying lots and making your playmates pay once they drop by on it. :)

There was a time where I was playing an exhibition match with some people form a an honors club and they did not penalize for losing a challenge. They were actually looking up words as they were playing. One person laughed when I asked if we were going to penalize for losing a challenge. I guess not everyone is as competitive as us. Reading the dictionary might work but I think that is a little too long for me. =)

I completely forgot about Scrabble. I feel your pain that about the degree of difficulty with scrabble but it is fun at same time. My family is really competitive at Scrabble and I had to practice a lot with my ex-girlfriend to get anywhere close to their level. I feel that I am getting better all the time. Happy Mylotting. =)

We should play chess online one of these days. I'm always trying to get better in chess but I am skeptical about reading books on chess. Do you read books on chess? Practice and experience has lead me to where I am in my chess capabilities. Have a wonderful day to you as well. =)

Sure we should battle online. What chess online site do you use? The only problem will be getting us together at the same time, since we live in different time zones. We'll just play for fun. =)

I always usually start winning mid-game, so people usually have to form alliances to take me down. Last time I played I was a sore loser, because I lost to a partnership that I agreed on. Monopoly is fun but it takes too long. Happy mylotting. =)

That is true. I guess board games are there to play when people are bored. What piece do you usually choose? Do you play Vegas style where all the money from the taxes and such get placed in the middle and is collected once someone gets to free parking? I remember epic games of monopoly but I feel that chess gets my blood pumping more. Have fun playing those board games. ;)

Without any doubt, same like you, my favorite one is chess. In fact, chess is considered the most famous board games of all time. Its mystery is endless. Once you got into the deeper water of chess, you'll be amazed of it. I can suggest you one great book about chess, the title is Mammoth Book of Chess by Burgess

Your suggestion is greatly appreciated. I used to think that one can be good in chess without reading books and play at an okay level. After experiencing playing some really good chess players who know openings and such I realized how inferior I am without analyzing chess strategy through books. I do not read books but if you would like to play a game with me then I am up for it. =)

I hang out with some friends once a week and we always play domino (sometimes we also play cards, texas, blackjack...). Domino is fun but it's not my favorite board game. I too think Chess is the ultimate board game. You do need intelligence but you really need more to be a good strategist. I also like scrabble a lot, it's also fun and you too need some intelligence to play and get good words with your given letters.

That's cool. We both enjoy the same games. I play cards as well, texas and blackjack and other ones. I have never played domino before. Is that the one where you connect the number of dots together? We should play chess or scrabble online together. Maybe we'll give each other a good challenge. =)

i also like monopoly cuz you can buy properties. if you land on someone elses property you'll be paying for the mortgages. it's like in real life. if you own more, you'll get rich faster. it's like a make believe game for me. lol.

Lol. I never looked at Monopoly as a real life game before. It is true that life, just like in Monopoly takes a series of luck, persuasion, and ambition to get the most money and be the best at something. I hope someday we all have big hotels that we own. Happy Mylotting =)

Cool. How long have you been playing chess for? I started playing serious chess when I was in high school. I used to even play online but now I just play for against my dad or at the chess club at my school. People in my college chess club are really good, there are even a few of them who have entered official tournaments and won money out of it!! Ludicrous!! Maybe we can play chess one day! Happy Mylotting in the meantime. =)

The board game I want to play the most is what else but chess. I have no siblings so no one disturbs me while im playing chess online. For many years now I've played thousands of chess games. I even play chess while sleeping lol. it's the only game so far I know where the players can move with blindfold covering their eyes.

Yes I have heard of blindfold chess as well. That is intense. We should play a friendly exhibition match one of these days. Until then have a wonderful day. =)
