Definatly Ron Paul, Im with you on that one. I may register as a republican so I can supprt him in the primary. I think it's a bit early to say Mitt Romney will get the nomination. Maybe, but I don't think he's nessesarily a shoe in right now. Last republican primary, I don't think alot of establishment republican voters were ready to support him. this time around may be an entirely different story. Dr. Paul is the quintessential tea party type candiate. And while die hard republicans won't supprt him, die hard republicans are getting to be fewer and farther between.
No doubt the republican national party will do their best to completely destroy him like they did in the last round. But depending on how things go over the next couple years, we may be looking at him as the republican nominee after all. In addition, there are a lot of democrats out there who like him, we may well be looking at President Paul taking the oath of ofice in january, 2013.....well, we can only hope at least.

What sort of wierd ideas do you mean iris? As for splitting the republican party...*shrug* I could care less about the republicna party (or the dems for that matter). The best thing that can happen to this country is for those two parties to collaps under their own weight in to the cesepool, like the so much filth they are. But anyways, what sort of "wierd" ideas does Ron Paul have?

I like both Paul and Romney. I don't know if the nation is ready to get behind Romney because of his religion but he and Ron Paul would be good candidates.

The religious right has always been iffy about him because he's Mormon. Who knows now though?

I don't think that those in the current crop will make it. The Republicans have some new Governors who will have a track record by then, and if they can pull their state out of the economic doldrums, will make a formidable candidate. The focus of the campaign will be the economy and national security.

I dont think the Dems will run anybody against Obama. I would love to see Paul but I dont see it happening. Unfortunately you are probably right about Romney. I find it amazing at how out of touch the RNC is when putting up a candidate. Romney pushed mandatory health care in his state but bashes the Dems. I know there is a big difference between state and federal, but I still feel it is wrong. Atleast in a state you can just move to another. Changing countries is a but harder.

I think you're probably right about Mitt Romney, it's basically "his turn" and that's how the Repubs tend to choose their nominees. The Dems rarely run anyone against an incumbent President but the one big exception was when Ted Kennedy ran against Carter back in 1980, which really fractured the party. I don't see that happening in 2012.

Except one major problem, that is right about the time people will be REALLY feeling the pain from lack of funds in the Social security fund. Which the Clintons "borrowed" to help boost parts of the economy. Republicans would probably attack her hard for that.

From my limited knowledge in US politics, I've heard that Sarah Palin and her tea party movement are making waves in the political arena. It's shaping up to be a two-cornered race between re-electionist Barack Obama and Palin.
I still think that Palin will run even if Mitt Romney will be the GOP/republican nominee.
Well, I've never been to the US and I'm not a US citizen so as I've said I have limited knowledge on the matter.

You're missing some important parts of our political system. Sarah Palin is the paid mouthpiece of the Tea Party Express, which is a Republican political action organization. They're using her right now to try to bring all of the independent tea party groups across the country together under their wing. The problem is that, as independent groups, not all of them are interested in what she and the Tea Party Express are selling. In Florida where I am, the group I am affiliated with has said, "thanks but no thanks" to the Tea Party Express and we will continue to focus on our state and eventually the presidential campaign. Since the Tea Party Express is affiliated with the Republican party, and since the straw vote has left Palin a distant tie for 4th. place, there is no way they will support her in a run for office against a legitimate Republican candidate. That would split the Republican vote and ensure a loss to the Democrats or to a strong Independent. Palin will be out long before any presidential election campaigns begin.

I am right there with you about Ron Paul. RUN RON RUN!
As for who will actuallly get the nod....I hope Ron Paul. I hope the Republican party has learned it's lesson about running RINOs like McCain in the last election. I am still looking around at who all might throw their name in the hat....but so far I like Ron Paul the best hands down.
Most of the rest have NO idea what fiscal responsibility is.
If they give it to another RINO I will as usual go looking at third parties.
