Spam is proving to be something more than trash. If you haven’t heard Spam is in an sense controlling certain stock markets; apparently several rounds of emails have been speaking of company in order to entice people to invest, the owners of the emails sent out already have the stocks in that company, people see this, some people do it and in turn the price shoots up, the spammers earn a tidy profit.

Basically I don't think its an ignored threat. Whole companies are geared to combat the threat of spam and the spam makers are inventing new modules and dimensions everyday to combat those strategies. Recent examples of at least mail spam protection is the antispam campaign by hotmail live.com and yahoo! mail.
The picture shows how the word "spam" was conceived 30 years ago:) Its ironical that such a delicacy has turned into a headache for endusers of cyber mails and netizines.
About spam do you think there are any positive sides/ comments:)?
