I think bible should be update every year. I heard that it was updated in the past too.. from old testaments to new testaments. Bible still need to be filter...i don't blame on Jesus, but blame on those who have written bible, they are man, and man makes mistakes...as you are saying man are not 100 percentage perfect.
All the things stated in the new testaments are not suitable for new people, today generations,it's hard to convince them,?
How can you say, it's the real truth, because something is really not true. Just like river flows from higher land to lower land.. from height to low areas..so if you say river will flow to desert to mountains.. it seems or it's really false.
So, Bible, it's time to update, for new people.

If you mean update, as in make the Bible to use modern words, then I agree with that.
If you mean update, as in change what it says, then no we can not do that.
The Bible explicitly says that to take away, or add to the Bible, and change it's meaning, is sin and will bring damnation on someone who does that.
I will not tempt God by doing that. I would advise anyone else to not do so, either.
As for the Bible being written by man, that's true. But the Bible also says that men of God wrote as the spirit of God moved them to do so. Meaning that the words are in fact the words of God written through men.
I believe the Bible is 100% inerrant. I have yet to find a mistake in the word. Now there are translation errors, but you just need to look up what the passage meant when it was written and the meaning becomes clear.
Translation errors are unavoidable. It's simply the limitation of human language. I would assume you speak Dutch, yes? Are there not some words that have meanings, where there is no exact English equal word?
So there could be some writing that when translated may not come out exactly what you meant. I would have to go look up the Dutch words and determine the real meaning.
This is why we have preachers that learn the Hebrew, and the Latin, and tell us what the Bible means.
But to say the Bible is not 100% accurate, why believe in Jesus then? If the Bible is not completely true, who cares what Jesus did or said? Maybe that wasn't true either?
After all, Jesus said that he would speak to his people through the Apostles. Now you are saying the Apostles lied or screwed it up. Doesn't that make Jesus a liar too?
Sorry friend. You can't have it both ways. You can't say Jesus was great, but everything else was bad. Jesus supported everything else. So if that's bad, Jesus was bad.

I believe that the Bible is the "word" of God! The Bible is what we can rely or our posts to the truth, the real truth. Many are questioning about the Bible; well the truth is: "The last days ( Armageddon ),those people who are impostors will continue to be more meaner to the meanest, they will convert people to the other way, not Jesus ways so to fool them and make them feel lost and surrender their faith to satan."

ya, might be bible is the word of God, Jesus.
satan, whom are you addressing, to me.. or to Osama Bin laden, your other christian friends,
I mean that, God Jesus had spoken much more valuable words to the world, but Jesus had not written them on the book, Those who write, they are people, they modified, they might add some more things, it can be just like a proof that more then five person had wrote that..you can find difference between them.
I don't like to say, bad things here..i mean to say..let s make bible better book to read not only for Christians, but for the world.
some Christians friends just got angry with my question.
I know they are afraid with the truth.

People like to live in the past and do not like changes.
Every change the government makes with new laws, is only accepted by people under 40. And since people live up to 90 years old, it takes 50 years for those new laws to be accepted by everyone.
To make matter worse, the parents and grand-parents of the new generations teach their kids not to abide by those new laws. As a result, if the new generation prefer to believe their parents than the law, nobody will ever accept the changes and the new laws.
One must remember that laws are artificial and man made.
The government pass those laws because of persuasion by a minority group which has rallied a few people to its cause. When a kid gets run over by a motorist while walking out of school, rather than telling the parents to teach their kids not to run over the road, the parents ask the government to force the motorists to slow down around schools.
In America, the Republicans use a constition which was written in the dark ages to justify their opposition to any new law introduced by Obama.
As for the Bible. If you choose to live your life as per the Bible, you deserve everything you get, because you are still living in the dark ages.

Have you as of yet, had the chance to read and pray about "The Book of Mormon"? Also, inspired of God, and first published in 1830.
It may be just what you are looking for in a new model of Gospel. It contains the fullness of the Lords' Gospel, and is a much quicker, much easier read.
If you are interested, just find your local Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
With Appreciation.
P.S. Still curious what kind of updates you would recommend.

The Bible need not be updated again for the reason that the new generation is pretty hard to convince about the Bible. We believe the Bible is infallible. If you can see errors in the Bible, it may be in your interpretation or some typographical error, but the message is still intact. It is not right for the Bible to adopt to the modern world, but for the modern world to adopt to the Bible. Not the other way around. Changing the Bible means compromising the word of God. There's no need to update the Bible because it has been updated so many times already. The past updates that you were referring to, are just updates in the type of English language it was written, not the content. The original translation was in King James Version, which is a classic English language that is very hard to pronounce or understand. Then the scholars translated it to a milder English versions, but the content is still intact. Those were the changes. The content need not be updated to suit the interests of the sinful modern world. If they cannot depart from their sinful nature, so be it.

Update of bible?? haha =D What's the point?? IF ple of the generation now, does not believe in it, no matter what the bible is, it's pointless.. haha =D Just like when one has got faith in jesus, for a non-believer, keeping to condamn the bible as something useless, will the faith be sway as to sway others have said??
I dun think so right?? haha =D The bible is part of history, and thus it cant be updated as and when one feels like it.. haha

Except for updating the language to the way we speak today's, you can't change the Bible. If you did, it wouldn't be the Bible. All Scripture is God breathed, which means God dictated to man what He wanted man, His scribes, to write down.

I think it's safe to say that you won't be reading the Douay-Rheims Bible any time soon.
There are so many other translations of the Scriptures that I'm finding it a bit hard to believe that there needs to be newer versions of it. There are versions that are paraphrases of paraphrases, which makes it ridiculously easy to understand. But, like someone who posted before I did said, the Holy Spirit should be your guide to understanding Scripture, otherwise you're never going to get anything from reading it.

I don't think that the bible is a book that should ever be updated. There are certain things that I think are okay to change, like the fact that the bible went from being written in old English to being written in more modern English. However, I don't think that it would be correct at all to make any changes to the content of the bible because then it really wouldn't be the word that we are supposed to follow in our lives.

When I was in college, I learned from a very wise priest about the bible. Fr. Zoeller told me and the rest of our Catholicism class that the bible wasn't meant to be taken literally. For this reason, I don't think that the bible needs to be updated. Beyond that, the bible is about things that happened before the time of Christ (the old testament) and also during Christ's life (New testament). Nothing in the bible is about current days and I don't think that it would be appropriate to make the bible seem that way.

Bible is updated each time God raises the level of human. First time God gave the man level above animal. Old Testament, the first part of the Bible was written then. Second time God had raised the level from Man to a human. He gave man a kindly and a humane nature through Jesus Christ. The Second part the New Testament was written again. Now the time to write the third part would come, when Jesus comes again. The Bible whether old or new has a theme, and that theme does not change. The theme is, "In the beginning God gave his word, God kept his word, and He came as his own Son to abide amongst us". While reading the Bible you must remember this theme, and you know to differentiate the truth from falsehood.

Im sorry vine but I dont agree. If we rewrote it in todays words, it wouldnt be the bible. The bible was written thousands of years ago by a copilation of books. If people were able to rewrite it it wouldnt have the same messages. Back in those times there wasnt all the freedom of religions, speech, and the freedom toi just exist as an individual. It was a very different time back then. It would be a artistic nightmare. Everyone would want to leave their "mark" on it. No I think we should reprint the one we have and leave it to be just what it is, "THE WORD OF THE LORD", In every language. HappY MyLotting dl

I am confuse reading your description vine! Have you ever read a bible from Genesis to Revelation. Fist of all new testament is not updated of old testament, its a fulfilment. I think if you have read it you will not say it sound false, you have to know if bible write by people from various background and culture. I think we have to updated the language so it will easy to understand not updated the content of the bible. Today the most easiest bible to understand is New International Version Bible.

It is true that many people think that the story of ‘Creation event’; ‘story of Noah’; an account of ‘Division of Red Sea’; and ‘Manna from Heaven’ are otherwise bald and unconvincing narratives. The Church had picked up these stories from pagan literature; then added artistic colors to it to give the story an appearance of being true and real. The Church took more than handful of confusion and disparate things that are irreconcilable from Old and New Testament both; and then provided its own view of a meaning?
Today to those who have the privilege to live in this wondrous age of change and progress, the creation event, as written in the book of Old Testament is no more than an obsolete trifle; utterly insensible and a false knowledge.
The Bible as it is today; has an immense collection of volumes of history of all ages. Many of which is now forgotten; most of which are seldom read. For propagating their doctrine, the theologians still glean the knowledge from such sequestered pool of obsolete literature to a point where it has actually turned into an object of ridicule. I agree why so much of truth, under ancient obsolete vesture could not change with times. The Church does not want a change because religions thrive on miracles; and miracles thrive on religion. They strike at emotions rather than the intellect.
Miracle is a crutch with which the foolish attack the wise to prove that they are not idiots. If Church strives to shape the lives of the believers by faith alone; then there is no reason why the faith should ever be lost. Church can strengthen people’s faith in God only if it allows Christ to rise above all as crystal symbol of faith.
Another fear the Church has is that the religion would die if it were proven true. They think that if every man is satisfied that there is such a thing as truth; then they would ask no questions.
To hold its power long in this age of enlightenment and democracy, the Church must confine its teachings only to Religious doctrines. It must include in its dogmas that part of the bible, which deals with only general relations between man and God and between man and man.
Church must give its dogmas and doctrines some kind of shape and meaning.

Updating the bible is like saying we need to update Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. It's been written in different languages and different ways to reach people so that they can understand better. The bible is as is and you cannot change or add to it, or update any doctrines. You cannot correct what is written wrong in the bible. One way or the other things written in the bible will happen, maybe not exactly the way it is written, or not literally. But just because it happened doesn't mean it's already false.

you cannot update the bible or else its credibility will be questioned.the bible is more than enough in teaching us about God, His love, his plans and his Glory. i think what should be updated is us.becuase there are many times we dont read or care about the bible anymore
