I think any club in the world would want to have Messi in their team, but it think it boils down to money and its unlikely Messi would gain anything from a move.
He loves Barca and the feeling is mutual. He's guaranteed his football there and you can see he wants to play 90minutes every game because he enjoys his football.
Moan united rotate even the best players and frankly looking at their dire finances i'd imagine they could do with offloading players/wages let alone paying a fortune for Messi.

Sir Alex would love to buy Messi, but sadly he cannot afford him. Barca would not sell him less than the $120 million which Manchester United can hardly afford given their current debt.
Also, Messi has made it very clear that he is very happy at Barcelona and Joan Laporta has also made it amply clear that they are not planning to sell Messi for any price.
Cheers!

The Barca team has just peaked and I doubt there is going to be much tinkering with it for the next 3 seasons. Messi is extremely happy at barca and he fits into that team perfectly. Of course there is no team in the world who wouldn't give anything for Messi but I don't think there is any who would afford him, I cannot even quote a figure to be honest..Just hope he plays as well in the WC as well, though if Barca make it to the final, I think he will be too exhausted or probably injured (touch wood)

Hi hcvvmk,
There is no doubt that Lionel Messi is the best player in earth now. He has everything in him and he use it well as his advantages (even his small build can be an advantage for him. And all clubs around the would would love to have him in thier team sheet.
Yeah ... Alex Ferguson should buy Lionel Messi to strength his team. Unfortunately, it is out of his control. First and foremost, Lionel Messi is happy with Barcelona and would stay there as long as he is needed there. Barcelona has done something that no other teams willing to do when he is still struggle with his illness (I can not remember the name but it is something to do with his body growth). And Lionel Messi would not just forget it because of money.
Barcelona also would not let Lionel Messi go because he is at his peak and there is no problem with him. Barcelona also did not have any problem financially that might force them to sell their precious star. Barcelona is not Manchester United. They would not sell their player solely because of money.
Even if Lionel Messi want to go to Old Trafford and Barcelona is willing to let him go, Manchester United could not afford the asking price. If I am not mistake, Lionel Messi contract has a clause that Barcelona can only entertain bid from $150 million and above. Due to current financial instability in Manchester united, I did not see any possibility for Manchester United could afford it.
