I came across this idea the other day. My Chinese friend says that in China each family makes their own hand pulled noodles. It was surprising for me because of the fact that you can buy different noodles in the grocery. We definitely buy from the grocery. Do you guys make your own noodles?

I know how to make egg noodles from scratch. The rest I usually just buy as it's cheaper to buy sometimes. Though I've always wanted to experiment with trying to make raveoli but again that would probably cost more for me to make than to buy.

When I was younger, my Mom and I tried making noodles at home. She got the recipe from a friend who attended a livelihood education in the province where we used to reside. I admit that it was not an easy job coz we didn't have the right tools for cutting the pasta. What we did was just to use a knife to cut the dough into thin pieces. I love cooking but I don't think I will do it again.

Hi, joedollarhuat. No. I have never made my own noodles before. But my husband's friend from his church can. He made spaghetti. And my husband told me that he, used flour dough to make his own noodles. He fried them and they look just like noodles that you can buy out of the long pack in the store. It looks very neat! I never knew how others can make their own homemade foods. I could not do this. I have heard of people making their own pudding, sauce and biscuits from scratch.

Sometimes I make my own pasta noodles.
They are made from egg and flour and I use a pasta machine to shape them.
It looks like a mangle but much smaller and you have to feed the dough through it to get it the right thickness then you feed it through cutters to get the right width of noodles, the taste is very different to shop bought but it is a little bit more expensive.

Yes, I heard that Chinese people do that. I'm just not so sure with other Asian countries. But here, I think majority of the people just buy those instant noodles mainly because of 3 things: 1. They're cheap. 2. They taste good. 3. They're easy to make/cook. So, yea. We don't make our own noodles. I don't think any of my family members even know how to make noodles. Lol
