what do you prefer: multieffects or analog stompboxes?

I have a dilemma on what to buy : a multi - effects with all - in - one but "generic" programmed sounds or invest to a chain of individual analog stomp boxes with better overall tone quality but requires a lot of money (since you will buy them individually) . Need your opinion guys.
