Do you ever get OFF mylot with a different mood than you had logging on?

I've been through a lot of discussions today, I guess in a short amount of time. Kind of in a 'whatever' mood. Reading, responding, just the usual for the most part. But I'm about to log off, and I don't know for how long. If I can't sleep again, I'm sure I'll be on again tonight. But I'm defnitely logging off mylot at least with a different perspective than I had when I first logged on. Have you ever had that happen? Have you been sad and then by the time you were through with mylot, you were encouraged? I know I have. I guess now I'm feeling a bit of derision. A bit disgusted. A little amazed at how people talk to each other. But then again, that happens out there in the real world, doesn't it. Hope everyone is feeling good tonight. I hope when you get off mylot this time you'll be in a better mood, maybe a little more light hearted. At least that is my hope for you.

I like you I am amazed at how rude and insulting some people can be. Sometimes when the insults are aimed at me I get a laugh at the pettiness of the person make in the comment/response. Other times when they overstep the lines of decency I get angry. However after I log off I do not allow nastiness to seep into my real life. I have received some very good advice from myLot members and friends which has lightened my mood at times.

Thanks for your wishes. I'm not sure it's going to happen for me. If I log off right now, which I plan to do, I'm afraid I'm not in a better mood than when I started. I don't know why I keep going back to political discussions? We're not going to change each others' minds, and we all know where everyone stands, so I wonder what's the point. It's just like continual jabbing at one another with no winner, no loser...just continual bickering... Think I'll start on MyLot gardening tomorrow...

Oh yeah, that has happened to me several times in mylot. Where when I logged in, I was in high spirits because I wanted to post something to share to other mylotters. Then upon checking my email for messages, I find that there was someone who responded to my other topic negatively and rude. There I find it ticked me. The way the person said it, the way he/she was accusing me of something etc. That's not a good way to end the day, so I may say. So, before going to sleep, I usually watch a movie. A funny one.

Good point. I too have had that happen. I try to watch something funny before I go to bed. Like a rerun of The Golden Girls. Odd maybe, lol. But it makes me feel better!

hi ambiepam oh I am in a much better mood now reading your non religious discussion and not trying to make a certain mylotter believe that God did not make people sinners, I got upset as this poster must have posted one discussion after another so my box was full of nothing but his discussions and they were really sort of irritating to me, so I got in this bad mood then I read yours and I feel very refreshed at a normal discussion not making fun of anything or anybody. Ihave come on here feeling sad and discouraged and left feeling happy and uplifted. for one thing when I read so many discussions that show others have worse problems it makes me grateful for what I do have, and less apt to moan about what I do not have.Yes at times here I have been upset by some people whom I feel would not talk that way to one's face but can hide behind their monitor and say un

I got them too Hatley and AmbiePam. I just started deleting them, because there was no arguing/clarifying/reasoning/etc. with this guy, so I just blew all his discussions off. That made me feel better right away. Have a good evening, the two of you.

Hi AmbiePam! I haven't given this very much thought. Right now, I'm feeling good because I just had supper, lol! You probably call it "dinner" but I've always called it "supper", being that I was raised in the south, lol. I guess you would say that there have been times when I came on here feeling sad and I might have started a discussion about what I was feeling sad about. After getting several responses to my discussion, I might have felt better. There have also been times when I came on here feeling good and I left here feeling hurt because one mylotter got smart with me. That happened last night. One mylotter was very disrespectful. He called me "crazy" for one thing and I didn't appreciate that. He also said I needed to learn the virtues. It was concerning my discussion I started about my computer freezing with me. I reported him, though, and I felt better after that. Kathy.

Kathy where is that guy, I will give him a talkin to. As far as I can tell, you have very good virtues. For that matter, what does virtue have to do with a frozen up computer? I am expecting a chewing out sometime tonight or tomorrow. I disagreed with a post, in a way, and said so. Got my response broken into little bits and analyzed today, then I answered back what I thought, so I should be in for it tomorrow. I usually avoid controversy, and I don't know what possessed me on this one. I can see it coming though, and I will be okay.

Isn't it amazing how free people feel to be morons sometimes? My dad calls it supper. He and my mom are both from here, Oklahoma. But my dad grew up in the country. Country, country. Where people are tougher, and often times nicer!

GG, I sent you a pm with his username and the number of the responder he was. Like I said in the pm, I did it this way because I didn't want to get in trouble for bad mouthing anybody on here. I avoid controversy, too, because I think it's so silly. I don't enjoy arguing and it's not christian, anyway. I just hope you don't get any chewing out. AmbiePam, I was raised in the country, too. I was raised and still live in Alabama. I consider myself tough physically but not mentally, lol. I've always been a little too easy to get my feelings hurt. Kathy

I think the reason I joined MyLot and stayed was because it made me feel good. I enjoyed the conversations, the appreciation I received and I liked thinking that I was helping people. I do not necessarily get that as much anymore, but I always have a few friends I want to check on. The other day a young mom in another country asked if she could call me her Auntie, just out of nowhere, but it was a nice feeling. Some days I see prejudice and scorn and that is not a nice feeling. I worry about my online friends who have health issues, and I wish I could magically travel all over and make things better and fix them some soup, buy them cars, and pay their bills. I guess with at least part of my friends I feel really connected, and usually I feel in a good mood when I leave the Lot.

I think I most always log off MyLot with a different outlook than when I logged in. Normally I'm in a stressed mood when I get on (because I'm just getting home or getting done with whatever, then log in). So most definitely, I feel way better after getting on and then logging off MyLot. I don't usually get off in a bad mood because I enjoy it here so much. Usually it makes me feel better to be here for the most part since it's something I thoroughly look forward to each day. It wouldn't do the day justice if MyLot wasn't a part of it!

I recall logging on in a happy frame of mind and coming away from the computer absolutely infuriated! It was a nice Sunday afternoon and I spotted a discussion from one of my dear friends who writes beautifully. She produced a fantastic piece about how she was feeling and her friends responded with high praise except for one who accused of her of plagiarism. My friend was devastated and asked her accuser to produce a link because she could not understand how anyone could plagiarise something she wrote minutes beforehand! There was a nasty exchange and we all jumped in to our friend’s defence but it did leave me with a sour taste which ruined my time here and most of my day as well!

Yes, it does happen to me, as I might be depressed when I start out in the morning, but by the end of the day, I am no longer depressed. It is amazing how being here, our attitudes really change, at leas they do with me anyway. I have seen too, how some will be mean to other users, and that just isn't right, as we all have feelings, and we need to respect one another and the views that we have, and not get upset because someone disagrees with us. I know that there are some that will disagree with me from time to time, and that is okay, as they do have a right to their opinion, whether right or wrong. I leave here at night with a much better attitude than I had when I first came in, and that is a good thing. I do enjoy myself in here and I am having so much fun, and i hope to continue that way for a long time. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

It just amazes me that people will speak out against being mean, say they detest when others can't disagree respectfully, and then hurl insults at each other in the next breath!

That has happened to me already because I was being bashed for what I have said, LOL. It made me feel so heavy-hearted, probably because I am sensitive haha. I didn't log in to MyLot for days because of that fear of being bashed again. Well, since this is an opinion forum, I can not agree with all of the people here. Right now, thanksfully I am in a good mood.

Yeah, sometimes I log off with a happy heart, an angry mind or something else. Everyday, discussions here are different from the other days. You may respond to a discussion with a happy heart at first but you have the tendency to change moods as you get along with the discussion. There a re different people discussing here everyday so you should not expect an answer to your comment or response that really agrees with you, there are still people who disagree with you. Just learn to keep a modest discussion in order for you to deliver things right. But mostly, I log off sleepy. lol

Oh yeah, this especially happens when I read something encouraging or the opposite, discouraging. This is why I watch what I read when I am already not in an up mood. I hope you are doing better today..:)

I do that all the time. I may log on in an unhappy mood but by the time I am finished i am usually in a better mood. I guess because the people on here are so nice and polite and helpful. So I am very grateful for mylot people. It is a nice place to hang out also. I love it here.

For me, it's the opposite thing. I was happy but since looking at the results from Orkut, I realized one thing; it is not my fault and I don't have to be guilty about loving. Yet, if I may appeal to God, why only now? Why would it take a couple of months for me to realize that it was only me who was loving and that I am not being loved in return? That was about this online world, we can have the mask that we want to have but there is certainly something about face to face interaction, about being with someone physically... there is a big difference. I think I will log off in mylot with my tears on my pillow.

Yeah I'm kinda in a 'whatever' mood right now.. But yeah I've been here and MyLot could sometimes give you those boosters. People here are nice and polite no one's really out to get anyone hurt or in trouble. Also very smart and insightful I like the responses I get when I post my discussions. Then there's the site being good... and paying... that's good too when you check on here and you see your stock just went up.. (by a dollar... yeeeey.... :P hahaha) Anyway, yeah it does. People here are great. I know I've said, it's worth saying it again. They are very supportive and non of the plastic bull crap you get outside. I think it's cos people are sometimes more themselves here cos it's in type. Better editing so no distractions, know what I mean? So you really go MyLotting when you can't sleep? Someone's hooked on MyLoooot. Lol don't worry me too. But it's counter productive when you're trying to sleep they say you shouldn't keep your brain so active before sleeping. That affects your mood to you know. Meowcow cares. ^^

Definitely not hooked on mylot. People have been too mean recently. Not to me, to each other. When I cannot sleep, I get into my e-mail. Mylot notifications are always there, as are Gather notifications, surveys...So I just go through one by one to try to answer or respond to them.

It really depends, sometimes I read something really useful, I would get off quite surprised and happy despite being just normal at first. But sometimes, I get on mylot with a clear mind, ended up with very blurred mind because I simply responded to too many discussions.

I usually feel a lot better and inspired after doing Mylot. That's why I changed my schedule in logging in from before I go to sleep to before I go to work. 'usually get a harder time to sleep after reading discussions that awakens my mind. Just recently when I implemented this new schedule to myself, I felt in a better mood to go to work. But it is true that sometimes I also get disgusted when I find some topics that in my own opinion should not be tackled anymore here. I just skip them.
