Mount Everest, the highest peak of the world. More and more people are interested to climb. many people had died there. It's high risk. And expensive too. Why they are doing or taking risk, just for their names or wanna make a record. Or it's just a adventure..

It would be a great experience, never mind the risk. Risk is part of our life.

I agree. An adventure is an activity that is perceived to involve risk, dangerous or exciting experiences. People like climbing Mount Everest for that reason and also one can enjoy a lot. Outdoor adventurous activities are typically undertaken for the purposes of recreation or excitement: examples are adventure racing and adventure tourism. Adventurous activities can also lead to gains in knowledge, such as those undertaken by explorers and pioneers. Adventure education intentionally uses challenging experiences for learning.

I think that some of the people climb it to set a record, some people do it because it is a great adventure, and others do it to feel a great big sense of accomplishment. Climbing any mountain is not really something that I would ever feel interested in, but it must be enjoyable for some. :)

I think most people do it for the adventure. Although it appears that a lot of people climb Everest every year, the reality is that relatively few people get to experience this adventure. I would personally never attempt it, although there are some other adventures I would like to try, but I guess if you like that sort of thing, it would be cool to try...

I don't know, different reasons I'm sure. The adventure, just to say they did it, or for some kind of fame, or to get noticed. I don't really see the point myself. I have no interest in climbing mt. everest. Do not care one bit.

I guess the best way to know the answer to that is to directly ask the person why he/she wanted to do it. You'll get a clearer answer. Probably some of them are here in MyLot. Answers, anyone?

This question was asked of one mountaineer (who's name I can't remember) and his reply was simply "Because it's there." In short, because it presents an irresistable challenge to a certain type of person.

I think most people do it to challenge themselves. There are few things in life that would compare with this. There may be a few that do this for fame, but unless they are prepared. they may be foolish. The big fame can come from dying on the mountain. Reaching the top, woul only bring fleeting fame and only then if you are lucky.

Adventure and the thrill of going to high places. I've experienced climbing the second highest mountain of the Philippines, Mt. Pulag. We got to the top even in harsh weather and the feeling of finishing the trek is really uplifting. Not every person have done so. Never mind the risk, what's important is fulfilling one great goal for yourself.

For others Mt.Everest is the right place to test ones courage...Reaching on top is like a fulfillment and victory. It gives them sense of satisfaction. It is a survival for the fittest. For those who succeeded it is more like an adventure. But for those who failed to return home alive, it is more like a way to their grave.

I think you would like the feeling on being on top of the world since it is the tallest mountain in the world. We might not understand since we are not mountaineers but I think if you like climbing mountains then your ultimate dream would be mount Everest. I have an office mate that is a mountaineer and she climbs mountains at least twice a month and it is because of adventure, reaching the peak is an achievement where you can see a wonderful view and they say you feel like closer to the sky since there are clouds. And maybe some climb to be in history.

There are people who want to do more than the ordinary individual. Not everyone is fit to climb Mt Everest and to those who succeeded they will become famous overnight, that's the financial side of it. So if you want to get famous and have the most thrilling adventure of your lifetime then climbing Mr everest is the way to go.

Sometimes we will never know why people do some of the things they do. I suppose its done for the adventure, I can't really be sure. But, that's the most logical. But think about it, the world's highest peak one of the greatest challenges in the word.

obviously there are those who go for records and adventure. there is no denying that it's a great challenge on one's physical, emotional, psychological and financial standing. it's also for that great sense of achievement, accomplishment and success. the discipline and training to accomplish such a feat should go a very long way. and it's also great to apply it in one's life. self-discipline, i believe is one of the pillars of success and contribute a lot to one's happiness. and personally i think there are so many 'mount everests' in our lives. to conquer the highest mountain in the world is to be able to look down, to look at everyday problems and say "I CAN!"
